“We are going to deal with it as a couple,” she said quietly.

William sat outside the apartment in his car for a few minutes before he got out. He had decided that it was time he dealt with the situation once and for all. He had spent a lot of time thinking while alone in the cream and gold suite he had chosen to spend the last few nights in. He had hurt her in ways that was unbelievable and had done the very thing he had threatened his son on doing: putting their family name in disrepute! If it got out that he was having an affair with the daughter of one of his business associates and friend he would be ruined! How the hell did he get himself into this situation? Whatever happens he had to end it now!
Sophia watched him sitting there. The security alarm had warned her that there was someone within the perimeters of her building, and she had moved aside her drapes to see his car out there. When she had heard his wife’s voice on the phone, she had almost passed out in shock! She knew that meant she no longer had anything to hold over him. Unless she was going to threaten him that she was going to spill her guts to the society rags, but it would mean dragging her parents into it as well.
She pressed the button to let him in and waited until he had reached the door then she opened it. She had been thinking about going to Europe for a while and had told her dad about it.
They stood there staring at each other for a moment before he spoke. “I don’t want you calling me again, Sophia.” He sighed and looked away from her. She was wearing delicate pink lounge pants and a thin black blouse with spaghetti straps, and her hair was secured in a ponytail. She looked so young and innocent, but he knew better. “I took advantage of you, and I want to apologize for that.”
She burst out laughing and he looked at her in surprise. “Darling, I am the one who took advantage of you.”
“What do you mean?” he asked, his dark eyes narrowing.
“Would you like something to drink?” she asked, going over to a cabinet fitted into the living room wall.
“No, thanks, I won’t be staying long,” he told her stiffly.
She shrugged and poured herself a glass of wine. “I was determined to get my revenge on Patrick for dumping me for that waitress.” She went to sit in one of the sofas and curled her feet beneath her. “It backfired, however, when you sank your oh so delicious di*k inside me. I started falling in love with you.”
“You did all this out of your need for revenge?” William said, looking at her incredulously.
“I hate to lose, darling, but I have to admit that the laugh is on me. I love you, still do, and I would have done anything to get you for myself, but the last few days, I have been thinking and that is why I have been calling you. To let you know that I am backing off.” She sipped her wine and eyed him over the rim of the glass. “We had some pretty adventurous times, didn’t we?”
“That’s one way to put it,” he said wryly, immensely relieved that she was not going to cause trouble.
She patted the space beside her, and with a slight hesitation, he came and joined her. “I am going to Europe sometime this week. Daddy has been at me to run the office there, and I think I am going to accept.”

“I am happy for you,” William told her sincerely.
“Were you in love with me even a little bit?” she asked him softly, putting aside her glass and turning to him.
“I was.” He nodded, noticing how green her eyes were and the petal softness of her skin. She was truly a beautiful woman, he thought.
“How about one more for the road?” she asked softly.

“I wished things were different,” he told her as she buried her face into his chest. “But I cannot leave Linda.”
