“Are you expecting someone?” Meaghan asked, her heart speeding up anxiously.
“No,” Dean said his brow furrowing in bemusement. “Shall we just ignore them until they go away?” he asked half-serious.
The doorbell chimed again.
“Maybe you just go see what they want,” Meaghan said.
“We were kind of in the middle of finding out what you want,” Dean said.
“Yes well it’s not like we can talk in peace with the doorbell going off every five seconds so you might as well deal with that now. It’s not like I have any fu*king clue how to answer you anyway.”
Dean studied her speculatively. “You must have some…vision of how this is supposed to go now,” he said.
The doorbell chimed again.
“Dean, go answer the door,” Meaghan insisted.
Dean got up and went as Meaghan sipped her wine.

Samantha was swaying backwards and forwards on her heels as she waited. Her heart was beating extra fast as she went over everything that she would say when he opened the door. She wasn’t leaving here until they were back together.
She heard his footsteps coming down the stairs and straightened up, putting her arm up to feel her hair. She snatched her hand away as she felt him undo the bolt. The door opened and Dean’s eyes widened as they fell on her.
“Sammy,” he said flatly.
“Hi Dean. Can I come in?” she asked timidly with her hands crossed under her bre*sts; which had the twin effects of making her look vulnerable while shoring up her bre*sts.
Dean opened his mouth and found that it was empty of words. He closed it and opened it again hoping for better luck. “I’m kind of busy right now. Could we pick whatever this is up later, maybe after you call first before showing up at my door?”
“I’m sorry about that but it took a lot for me to get enough courage to come here after you broke up with me so abruptly. I just didn’t think to call as well. Can’t you spare five minutes for me?” she asked using her little girl voice.
Dean hesitated and so he was lost, Samantha pushed past him and before he knew it she was climbing the stairs to his apartment.
Dean closed the door and hurried to follow her wondering what he was going to do now. He thought about turning around, getting in his Lamborghini and heading anywhere that wasn’t here but Meaghan was innocently sitting at his dining table and she hadn’t asked for this kind of trouble. Besides he did intend to have s*x with her again and he bet that leaving her alone to deal with his ex would diminish the chances of that happening significantly. So he followed Samantha up the stairs, albeit a lot slower than he’d descended them.
“You!” he heard her say as she entered the apartment proper. Dean hastened his pace and he was just in time to see Samantha striding forward to grip Meaghan by the arm and haul her to her feet. Meaghan looked like she was slightly flummoxed by the whole situation which kind of echoed Dean’s feelings on the matter.
“Leave her alone,” he demanded.
Samantha whirled around to stare accusingly at him. “You told me you wanted to ‘find yourself’!” she yelled. “Is this finding yourself? Or did you mean finding her va*ina with your pe*is?”
Samantha’s face was flushed to an extent that looked feverish and her eyes were bulging out of her head, that would seem to indicate that she was way passed pissed and off into nuclear territory.
“Don’t be crude,” he said instinctively moving to get between Samantha and Meaghan. Samantha followed him with her eyes, moving in when she saw what he was doing. “What do you think I’m going to do to your little girlfriend? What? You think I care about who you’re whoring around with? What is this Dean? You got jungle fever? I always knew there was something between you; I just didn’t figure it would last this long. Have you been cheating with her the whole time?” Samantha’s voice had reached super high levels possibly only audible to canines.
“Samantha calm down,” Dean said then could have bitten off his tongue. The first thing they taught you in female studies was that you never told a woman to calm down.
“Calm down? CALM DOWN? I’m the injured party here,” she yelled.
Meaghan stepped out from behind Dean which he thought was a huge mistake.
“Samantha can we talk like human beings for five minutes?” she said.
Samantha stared incredulously at her. “Are you speaking to me?”
Meaghan took a deep breath, “Yes I’m speaking to you Samantha. I don’t know what transpired between you and Dean. All I do know is that your assumptions are wrong and if you’d like to take some time to maybe have a conversation, we can clear all this up like civilized beings instead of all this yelling and screaming.”
Dean was very impressed with Meaghan’s bravery. He wasn’t about to let her have all the glory though. He could do courage too.
“Meaghan, this isn’t your problem, you should let me deal with it,” he said stepping in front of her.
“That’s fine but I won’t have your ex girlfriend casting aspersions on my character while I stand here doing nothing.”
“You’re not doing nothing. You’re letting me deal with it just as I should have a long time ago. In high school. When Samantha began this tedious campaign to besmirch your character,” Dean said not taking his eyes off Samantha the whole time. She was watching them with a completely incredulous look on her face like she couldn’t believe the conversation they were having.
“Samantha kindly apologize to Meaghan for that and then we can go in the den and discuss the current situation calmly and rationally.”
“I’m not apologizing to anyone!” Samantha yelled getting even redder, if that was even possible. She whirled on Dean and launched herself at him, tears spilling down her face.
“Dean, how could you do this to me?” she cried desperately, eyes wide and filled with hurt.
Dean couldn’t help it, he actually felt bad for her. Meaghan stepped toward the door.
“I’ll leave you two alone,” she said.
Dean unfurled Samantha’s hands from his shirt as fast as he could and stepped after Meaghan.
“Don’t go, you don’t have to go,” he said.
“Yes, I do.” She said as she walked down the stairs.
“Meaghan I’m sorry about all this,” he tried again pulling alongside her.
“No. It’s not problem. Samantha always was tenacious. You should have expected something like this I guess.”
“Meaghan,” Dean said her name like it was enough to express all his feelings on the matter.
“I’ll see you Dean,” Meaghan said as she stepped out of the door.

“Yes you will,” he replied.

“Baby?” her mother called to her as she burrowed under her blankets. “Mount Sinai called. They said to present yourself there on Monday.”
That was enough to excavate Meaghan from her blankets. She jumped out of bed and went to the kitchen where her mother was making pancakes.
“What? When did they call? Why didn’t you wake me?” she asked reaching out to grasp her mother’s arm.
