He got to the entrance of the office with manager written on a golden plaque on the door.

David knocked on the door and frowned when he got no response. He checked the time and realized that it was a few minutes past seven. He thought of the possibility that Chalondra hadn’t arrived. He was determined to have a word with her. His plan was to make her an offer of more money. He knew he would get to see her some other time because he would be running late for work if he delayed any further. David made his way to the elevator and got in. He pressed the button that would take him to the ground floor. It took a few minutes for him to reach the ground floor, and the door opened. However, as he was about to step outside, he came face to face with the woman who filled his every thought.

Chalondra’s eyes widened when she saw David. He was the last person she expected to come across that morning. She erased the surprise she had on her face and replaced it with a blank look. David had a pleased look on his face as he watched her get into the elevator. He was supposed to step out, but he wasn’t ready to let the opportunity to speak with Chalondra slip through his fingers.

The doors to the elevator closed as Chalondra pressed the button to her floor. She stood facing the door without acknowledging David’s presence. David couldn’t help his gaze as it swept over Chalondra.

“Good morning,” David greeted, but Chalondra pretended like she didn’t hear. Her major concern was for the elevator to get to her floor so she will be as far away from David as possible. She hoped David hadn’t recognized her from the previous night.

“Was my offer so bad that you wouldn’t want to exchange pleasantries with me?” David said as he broke the silence after some minutes while Chalondra stiffened. At this point, the elevator had almost reached Chalondra’s floor.

“Good morning,” Chalondra said without turning to face David.

“Good morning,” David said as he walked up to her until he was standing beside her. He dipped his palms inside his pocket to keep himself from reaching out to her. He felt a surge of arousal below his waist as he took her in. He hadn’t been able to see her the previous night properly but seeing her now, he was stupefied by her beauty. She was a stunner. The elevator pinged as it came to a halt. Chalondra hurriedly left the elevator, but David followed behind. She held her breath when she realized this and walked faster towards her office. She stopped when she reached the door, and David was on her heels. She took a sharp intake of breath before she slowly turned to face him. Chalondra swallowed when she realized David was standing really close to her.

“Is there a problem?” she asked as she tried to calm her unsteady nerves.

David smirked at her before he said, “Not at all.”

“Okay, would you mind excusing me?” Chalondra asked with arched brows.

“Not until you give me your contact details,” David said with a smile he was sure made ladies swoon. He was surprised when this had no effect on Chalondra. She surprised him at every turn, and that increased the pull he had towards her.

“Excuse me?” Chalondra said with a puzzled look.

“I want your mobile number. Something I can use to reach out to you,” David said with an unfazed expression.

“I don’t want you to reach out to me. If you have any problem with the services of the hotel, you can tender your complaint to the receptionist, and I’ll see to it. Better still, this is my office; you can directly come here to lodge your complaints,” Chalondra said, and David smiled.

“First of all, thank you for the free invitation to your office. Secondly, you and I know this isn’t about the hotel. This is between you and me,” David said as his voice dropped an octave. This sent shivers down Chalondra’s spine, but she managed to look unfazed. She couldn’t help but take in David’s facial structure. She stared at his sharp jaws, full eyebrows, and blue eyes. They felt like an ocean, and Chalondra found herself getting lost in it. In spite of the fact that she was in heels, David easily towered over her. Chalondra guessed he was 6 ft 5”.

“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Chalondra said as she folded her arms, drawing David’s attention to her bre*sts.

“Of course you do,” David said with a knowing smile.

“Listen, Mr….” Chalondra said before she trailed off. It was at this point she realized she didn’t know his name.

“Call me David,” David said with a smirk.

“Okay, Mr. David,” Chalondra started, but David cut her off.

“Just David.”

“Fine, David,” Chalondra said with gritted teeth. She was already late for work, and David was getting on her nerves by delaying her when she could have started working.

“Good,” David said with a broad smile. He liked the sound of his name on her lips. “What’s your name?”

“That’s beside the point,” Chalondra said with a frown.

“You know my name. It’s only appropriate that I know yours,” David said with a shrug.

“Fine, my name is Chalondra.”

“Beautiful name for a beautiful woman,” David said as his eyes lit up.

“Are you flirting with me?” Chalondra asked with wide eyes. She was amazed at David’s audacity.

“Is it working?”

“Hell no!” Chalondra exclaimed.

“That’s a pity. I didn’t know my charms were fading away,” David said as he pretended to look disappointed that he held no effect on her.

“Well, your charms don’t work on me,” Chalondra said as she dropped her arms.

“Are you sure about that?” David asked as he drew closer to Chalondra.

“What, what are you doing?” Chalondra stuttered as she stared at David with wide eyes as he tried closing in on her.

David smiled when he noticed her heavy breathing. He realized she wasn’t unaffected as she seemed. However, he pulled back when he saw the nervousness in her face. He didn’t want her nervous around him. He smiled when he saw Chalondra visibly relax at this.

“What do you want?” Chalondra asked as she gave David a suspicious look.

“You,” David said.

“I beg your pardon?” Chalondra said with a perplexed look.

“I want you, Chalondra,” David said, and she gasped. She had known what he wanted since the previous night, but she had hoped it was because he had been mistaken about her being an escort.

“Sorry to disappoint you, you can’t have me because I’m not on the menu. If you would excuse me, you have something to do,” Chalondra said as she turned towards the door once more. Her movement was stopped as David grabbed her wrist. It took everything in Chalondra not to gasp at the contact of her bare skin against his palm. Suddenly she felt hot as a tingling sensation ran through her. It was a strange feeling; hence Chalondra removed her wrist from his. It took everything in her not to rub the same spot. Chalondra was flustered, but David paid no attention to it as his mind his elsewhere. He had felt how soft Chalondra’s arm was and wondered if she was soft all over. His eyes drifted towards her lips, and he wondered what they would feel like beneath his. “Your mobile number is all I ask for,” David said with a calm voice. Chalondra stared at him for the longest moment. She wanted to do anything to be out of his presence.

“Fine,” Chalondra said, and David smiled while she gave him her number.

“Thank you,” David said with a smile as he stated the number on his phone like a prize. Chalondra mumbled a response as she tried to unlock the door. It was the only escape she had at the moment.

“I’ll give you a call,” David said as Chalondra stepped in.

“Please don’t,” Chalondra said as she shut the door behind her.

David smiled at this before he muttered, “Feisty.”

He almost let out a frustrated groan when he checked his wristwatch and realized the time was far spent. He strode towards the elevator and got in. He was going to be late for work for the first time in a long time. However, talking to Chalondra was worth it. He made his way out of Carnero’s and headed for his apartment. He barely spent fifteen minutes inside before he got back to his Aston Martin and drove to the office.
