“I’m sorry for having you worried, but everything is fine here. The new position has just been filled with more workload than I thought,” Chalondra said.
“Sorry, babe. I’m sure you will pull through,” Natasha said. “Why don’t we hang out this weekend? It would go a long way to relieve your stress,” Natasha added.
“That sounds like a brilliant idea. I miss having you around as it is,” Chalondra said.
“The feeling is mutual. A hangout isn’t bad. That reminds me,” Natasha said. Chalondra sat up in anticipation. “I met someone,” Natasha said, and Chalondra smiled.
“Wow, that’s great! Good for you. Where? What’s his name? Are you sure he isn’t another scumbag from the opposite gender?” Chalondra fired rapidly. At the last part of her statement, her mind drifted to her boss’s friend, who had made the disgusting offer to her the previous day.
“Come on, not all men are scum,” Natasha chuckled.
“Trust me, they are. In fact, I met one of them yesterday,” Chalondra said.
“Oh my goodness! What happened?” Natasha asked with curiosity.
“I’ll tell you about it. Tell me about your Prince Charming,” Chalondra said as she added a hint of sarcasm at the last part. She didn’t believe such things existed, but Natasha believed otherwise.
“Okay, fine. I met him at the grocery store. He is an artist, and he is cool. His name is Mark, and girl, he is every lady’s dream,” Natasha cooed, and Chalondra frowned.
“I take it he is really handsome,” Chalondra said as she served her dish.
“Girl! He is! You know the kind that can make your panties instantly wet,” Natasha squealed, and for a brief moment, Chalondra thought of David at the thought of making a girl’s panties wet, because despite his disgusting behavior the previous day, Chalondra couldn’t deny that he was drop-dead gorgeous. She shook her head as she realized the direction of her thought. What kept ringing in her mind was that gorgeous men like him end up being cheats, and she thought it would be best to tell her friend that.
“Are you sure about him, Natasha? You are aware that these gorgeous men…” Chalondra said before she trailed off.
“He is different. I don’t know how to explain this. You know the feeling you get, like he is the one I’ve been waiting for all these years,” Natasha said with a dreamy voice.
Chalondra frowned as she realized her friend had it really bad. “How do you know that, Natasha?”
“I just know it. I connect with him on a whole ‘nother level,” Natasha said with sincerity. Chalondra’s heart tugged at this. She hoped Mark was who he said he was; else, she didn’t know if Natasha would be able to handle a heartbreak from him. Natasha was in too deep.
“If you say so. I just want you to be careful,” Chalondra said.
“I will, but trust me, you’re only worrying for nothing,” Natasha said.
Chalondra sighed. “Whatever you say.”
“Will you be coming over to my place, or will I be coming over?” Natasha asked.
“You choose. Either place is good,” Chalondra said as she checked the time. She abruptly stood up when she realized she was going to be late for work.
“Okay, let’s do my place,” Natasha said.
“Sounds perfect,” Chalondra said. “I have to go now. I’m running late,” Chalondra added as she hurriedly cleared her dishes before she grabbed her car keys and her handbag.
“Okay, no problem. I’ll talk to you later,” Natasha said.
“Bye,” they simultaneously said before Chalondra grabbed her four inch heels and put them on. She left her apartment and got into her car. She headed for the hotel with thoughts of her plans running through her mind.

“Arghh,” David groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. For a moment, he wondered where he was as he turned his head sideways. It took him a few minutes before recognition hit him. He was in his usual suite in Carnero’s hotel, and he had a banging headache.
Slowly, David sat up as he grabbed his head and let out another groan. He needed some aspirin; he pressed the intercom beside him and asked that one should be brought to his room before he ended the call. He frowned when he realized he was the only one on the bed. That had never happened to him before. Immediately, a flashback of what had occurred the previous night hit him with full force. He recalled getting rejected by the hot sexy lady and getting bored at the club. He recalled returning to his usual suite while getting himself drunk until he had passed out. Getting rejected was foreign to him that even at that moment, he found it amusing.
“Come in,” he called out when he heard a brief knock on the door. Hotel staff came in with a tray that contained a glass cup and a bottle of water and the aspirin he had requested.
“Good morning sir, here is what you requested,” the staff said in a small voice.
“Thanks,” he said as the staff placed the tray on the stool close to him.
“You’re welcome,” she said as she turned to leave.
“Wait,” David called out as the memories of the lady from before flooded his mind once more. He had been unable to keep her out of his mind. David wasn’t sure if it was because she had rejected him, and the thrill of having her was strong. He found himself wanting to ask about her.
“You called me?” the staff member said as she turned to face him.
“Yes, I need directions to the office of the manager,” David said. He recalled that Nick had told him the manager would personally bring the girls for him.
“Is there a problem, sir?” The woman looked worried. “I’m sorry if I’ve done anything wrong. You don’t have to report me. I can fix my mistake!”
“Stop!” David bellowed before he could help himself while she flinched. Her rambling was increasing his headache.
“I’m sorry…” she started again.

“Can you just stop? I’m not reporting you. I need to talk to her about something else,” David calmly said.
“Okay,” the lady said as she visibly relaxed.
“I can tell her you request her presence,” she said.
“No, I want to see her in her office,” David said.
“Okay,” The lady said before she gave David the description to Chalondra’s office. The lady left after leaving David alone with his thoughts. He had every intention of visiting Chalondra after he freshened up. He swallowed his aspirin and went to take his bath. By the time he was done, the headache had drastically reduced. He stepped out of the suite and headed towards the direction of Chalondra’s office. He realized it was the same direction as Nick’s office, but he was more interested in seeing his stunning manager.
