Chapter 2
“Good evening, sir,” Ms. Chelsea greeted as David entered the apartment that evening. He was full of smiles, and Ms. Chelsea knew he was in a good mood.
“Good evening Ms. Chelsea,” David said as his joy knew no bounds.
“What would you like to have for dinner?” she asked, and David waved a dismissive hand.
“Forget about dinner. In fact, I won’t be coming back until late. You can as well take the rest of the day off,” David said as he casually sauntered to his room.
“Okay, sir,” Ms. Chelsea said with a smile. David had decided to take a brief detour to his apartment and freshen up before he headed for the Carnero. He was confident that he would most likely spend the night at the hotel. In spite of David’s playboy ways, David made it a point of note not to bring women back to his apartment. He felt it made them clingy and start growing attached towards him, and that was what he didn’t want. He preferred his casual, no-strings-attached s*x. He discarded his clothes and went into the shower. It took him a few minutes before he came out of the adjoining bathroom wrapped with a towel around his waist.
He cleaned his body with the extra towel around his neck and walked to his closet to pick out one of his casual wears. He had just grabbed a T-shirt when his phone started ringing. He frowned because he wasn’t expecting any calls, and the possibility of his mother calling filled his mind. He dreaded her talks about finding a good woman and settling down. He didn’t look forward to such talks, especially when he was about to celebrate his huge deal. He walked towards his bed, where his phone was lying on the bed. He realized it was his father, and he wasted no time answering the call.
“Hello,” David said with a self-assured smile.
“David,” Craig said, and David knew the news had reached him. Of course, he should have known better than to keep the news from his father for too long. His father knew everything that was happening at the company like he was there.
“I heard about the news,” Craig said, and David grinned. He felt proud of himself anew, and he felt excitement run through him.
“Great job, son,” Craig said.
“Thank you, Dad,” David said as he walked back to the closet with his phone still pressed to his ear. He wanted to get to the club on time so that his fun time would begin in earnest.
“You’re welcome. I was wondering if you could come over so we can celebrate. Your mother is thrilled and is making plans for dinner,” Craig said, and David almost let out a groan.
“I’ll have to pass. I made other plans to celebrate,” David said, and Craig chuckled.
“Let me guess what your plan is; you will party all night and find the next girl that will grace your bed?” Craig said.
“Technically, they aren’t gracing my bed,” David said.
“Whatever pleases you, David. My concern is the family business, and you’re doing great at that. That’s all that matters to me,” Craig said. “Anyways, we’ll fix another time for the dinner celebration. Preferably when your brothers are around.”
“Perfect,” David said. Anytime but today.
“Okay, I’ll leave you to it,” Craig said.
“Okay, Dad, bye,” David said.
“Bye,” Craig said before he ended the call. David dropped his phone on the dresser and picked up a dark pair of pants. He returned the T-shirt and opted for a black turtle neck. He opened the drawer that held his wristwatches and picked one of his golden Rolexes and wore it. He spent the next ten minutes picking his necessities like his card, car keys, and other items. By the time he left his apartment, it was silent, and David guessed Ms. Chelsea had gone to sleep. He got into his Aston Martin and pulled out of his garage. David reached the club twenty minutes later. Anticipation filled him as he made his way inside the club. He was given an instant pass because the bouncers knew who he was and knew they better not to cross him. He ignored the main club where people were grinding against each other and made his way for the VIP section. He passed several bodyguards, but they gave him free access. He was a regular here; it made it easier for him to reach the VIP section. David got to the locked door with two hefty men at the entrance. They pushed the door open to reveal a slightly dim room, and David stepped in. Unlike the main club, the VIP section was more sophisticated. There was soft music playing in the background, and at the center of the room were two poles with strippers wrapped around them. David made his way to one of the private areas and took his seat as he watched everything unfold.
“David,” Nick, the owner of Carnero’s, greeted as he joined him. David turned towards him and grinned.
“Congratulations, man,” Nick said as he patted David on the back.
“Thank you,” David said as he shrugged. “Where are the ladies? Where is the exclusive entertainment you promised? Everything around here seems cold,” David said, and Nick chuckled.
“Patience, Ms. Davies will see to your needs soon,” Nick said as he took a seat beside David. David didn’t pay attention to who Ms. Davies was. He had no idea she was the new manager; neither did he care about it. His major concern was having fun. “Okay, but you know I don’t like waiting for too long.”
“I’m aware of that. Trust me; I assure you maximum fun,” Nick said with a mischievous grin.
“How does your dad feel about the news?” Nick asked, and David shrugged as he told him how Craig was elated. He told Nick how he had declined his offer for dinner so that he would be here.
“Okay, let me see what’s taking Ms. Davies so long,” Nick said as he rose to his feet.

David nodded before he signaled for a waiter with his finger. By this time, Nick was gone.
“A bottle of champagne,” he said, and the waiter nodded before he left with David’s order. David’s phone beeped, and he brought it out of his pant pocket. He scoffed when he realized it was a message from Nadia, one of his on-and-off girls. She was asking if she could meet him at the hotel because she missed him. David knew it wasn’t just because she missed him – rather the money she hoped to get from him. He wasn’t in the mood for her; he wanted someone new to pass the night.

“You shouldn’t be here,” Chalondra calmly said to two of the waitresses of the hotel. It was a busy night, and they were busy chatting away. Chalondra was so close to firing them at the spot, but she didn’t want to come out harsh. Hence, she saw this as giving them a warning.
“We’re sorry,” they chorused before they left her presence. Chalondra had known her new position would entail more work, but she had no idea she would be so immersed in it. For the past few days since she had started her job, she had barely had time to rest. Not that she was complaining, she saw it as a new challenge. Hence, she wanted the hotel to be at its best during this period. Speaking of which, her boss called her to inform her his friend was coming over and she needed to give him top-notch treatment. She knew he meant she needed to arrange ladies for his friend. The hotel had escorts for such occasions, but Chalondra still found it hard to understand why a man’s view about women would be that they were playthings.
