“It’s okay,” Chalondra said as she chuckled; it was at this Natasha relaxed.
“It’s good to have you back,” Chalondra said with a smile.
“Girl, it’s good to be back,” Natasha said.
“Where is Mark?”
“He is fine. He had to start back at work today. I’ll be resuming tomorrow,” Natasha said.
“That sounds good,” Chalondra said.
“Aren’t you going to work today?” Natasha asked with a frown.
“I am, but I’m not due until two hours’ time,” Chalondra said just as David walked out of her bedroom.
“Good morning Natasha,” he said with a smile.
“Good morning,” Natasha replied.
“Natasha, meet David. David, this is Natasha, my best friend,” Chalondra said.
“You mean your only friend?” Natasha said as she rolled her eyes before she smiled in David’s direction.”It’s nice meeting you,” Natasha said as she rose to her feet and stretched her hands towards David for a handshake.”Chalondra has told me a lot about you.”
“Natasha,” Chalondra called out with an embarrassed look.
“She did? That’s interesting,” David said as he glanced towards Chalondra’s direction.
“Yes, she did. It’s good to meet you finally,” Natasha said.
“The pleasure is all mine,” David said as he grinned in Chalondra’s direction.
“I hope I haven’t interrupted anything?” Chalondra asked as she stared between David and Chalondra.
“Not at all. I was about to leave,” David said.
“Oh no!” Natasha exclaimed. “Are you leaving because of me?” she asked.
“No, I have some things to sort out back in the office,” David said, and Natasha relaxed.
“Okay, I guess we’ll meet some other time,” Natasha said as she returned to her seat.
“Of course,” David said before he moved closer to Chalondra. He leaned closer to her and placed a kiss on her cheek.
“I’ll talk to you later,” he whispered in her ear, and she nodded. David pulled back before he said, “Ladies, enjoy the rest of your day,”
“And you too,” they chorused before David left the house. Chalondra had her eyes fixed on him until he left. Natasha could see the longing on her friend’s face. She could tell that Chalondra didn’t want him to leave yet.
“My goodness, you have it bad,” Natasha exclaimed with excitement. At this, Chalondra broke out of her reverie.
“Yes, I do,” Chalondra said as she turned to face Natasha.
“You finally admitted to it,” Natasha said as she grinned.
“I’m not admitting to being in love with him,” Chalondra said as she rolled her eyes.
“You are, just like he is. Girl, do you see the way he looks at you?” Natasha asked as she stared at Chalondra like she was out of her mind.
“How does he look at me?” Chalondra asked with arched brows.
“Like you are the only one in the room. Trust me, that man is in love, just like you are with me. I’m wondering if the both of you aren’t aware of this, or you are intentionally ignoring these plain facts,” Natasha said with intrigue.
“You imagine things,” Chalondra said even though she started thinking of Natasha’s words. She tried to think of the possibility that she was in love with David.
“Whatever, time will tell,” Natasha said. “Girl, there is a lot to tell you,” she added.
“Really?” Chalondra said as she tried to concentrate on the details of Natasha’s trip. She couldn’t help but ponder on Natasha’s words. Natasha left some minutes later, and she kept thinking about it. She took her bath and got dressed for work. She was almost late for work as she stepped out of her apartment. Chalondra was locking her front door when a small piece of paper directly in front of her door caught her eyes. She wondered who had dropped the note. She glanced around and saw no one before she bent to pick the note. Chalondra rose back to her feet and opened the note.
STAY AWAY FROM MY MAN, YOU BI*CH!
Chalondra was perplexed at the content of the note as she read it again. She glanced around and frowned when she saw no one.
“This must be a prank,” she muttered as she folded the note. She brushed the thought of the note aside as she got into her car and headed for work.

Chalondra was at her office when she received a text from Natasha. It was a week after her visit. Natasha has been busy with work that she hasn’t had time to give Chalondra a call. Chalondra’s source of comfort was David’s constant visit. She smiled as she thought of how she hadn’t wanted David to leave earlier that morning. She had wanted them to spend the whole day together.
“Babe,” Chalondra said with excitement as she answered Natasha’s call.
“Chalondra,” Natasha breathlessly said.
“Girl, are you okay?” Chalondra asked with a frown.
“Asides from the endless work I have piled up, I’m okay,” Natasha replied.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Chalondra said with a frown.
“Thank you. The good thing is that I thought we could fix our hangout for this weekend.
That would relieve the week’s stress,” Natasha said.
“That sounds like a great idea. I also need a break from work here,” Chalondra said.
“Good. Will you tell David about it while I tell Mark?” Natasha asked.
“That’s true. I’ll give David a call and see if he will be able to make it,” Chalondra said.
“Okay, I’ll be expecting your call,” Natasha said.
“Okay, I’ll talk to you later,” Chalondra said before they ended the call. She thought of how stressed out Natasha sounded. However, that wasn’t her major concern. Her major concern was the note she had received earlier that morning again. Like the first one she had received a week earlier, the note was filled with threat. Chalondra tried to shake off the uneasy feeling she had about the note but couldn’t. She hoped the person playing a prank on her would stop. She was starting to hate it. She had thought the first one would be the last note. Hence, she hadn’t told David about it. However, now she had no choice but to tell him.
Chalondra sighed as she grabbed her phone and dialed David’s number.
“Hello?” a female answered the call. Chalondra’s mind briefly drifted from the notes and focused on the person who had answered David’s call.
“Hello?” The lady repeated.
“Hello,” Chalondra responded.
“How may I help you?” the lady politely asked. Chalondra had wild imaginations about who she might be but brushed it aside. She trusted David not to mess around.
“I want to speak with David. My name is Chalondra. Is he there?” Chalondra said.
“Oh, ma’am. I’m sorry. I’ll transfer your call to Mr. Murray right away,” the lady said. Chalondra relaxed at this. She castigated herself for doubting David even for a brief moment.
“Chalondra,” she heard David say some minutes later.
“Hey, am I interrupting something?” Chalondra asked.
“Not at all. I was in a meeting and didn’t want to be disturbed. I gave my phone to my secretary and gave clear instructions to transfer your call in case you called,” he said, and this caused Chalondra to smile.
“Oh, I’m sorry I interrupted. I could just call back later,” Chalondra said.
“It’s nothing. I gave everyone a break already,” David said. “I’ve missed talking to you already even though I just saw you some hours earlier,” David added.

“The feeling is mutual,” Chalondra whispered with a smile.
“What have you done to me?” David asked. He thought of how much Chalondra affected him. Although they had agreed to end things when the passion they felt for each other faded, David couldn’t imagine life without Chalondra.
“The same thing you did to me,” Chalondra said as she bit her lower lip to keep herself from smiling. “Anyways, that wasn’t why I called. I was wondering if you will be free this coming weekend?” Chalondra asked.
“You know when it comes to spending the whole day or night with you, I’m always available,” David said as Chalondra chuckled. She knew he was making reference to how they had spent the past few days in each other’s company.
“Goodness David! You are so naughty!” Chalondra exclaimed as she chuckled.
