“How is it? You have time to go about making news in the tabloids with those girls, but I have to beg you to visit me,” Mrs. Murray said as David winced.

“Mom, he doesn’t mean it that way. We are here to celebrate, remember? The kids are here; I’m sure you wouldn’t want to paint one of their favorite uncles in a bad light,” Benjamin said as he rescued David.

“That’s true. David makes me forget myself at times,” Mrs. Murray said as she relaxed. David silently thanked Benjamin, and he responded with a nod.

“I did nothing, Mom,” David said with a smile. “Tell me, champs, how is it with all of you?” David said as he faced his nephews and niece. He couldn’t believe how much they had all grown.

“Fine, Uncle David,” they chorused and were about to give him details about what he had missed, but David stopped them and told them he would listen to what they had for him after dinner.

The dishes were served, and everyone started eating their food.

“Congratulations, David. I was impressed when Dad told me about the news,” Daniel said as he cuts in. Daniel was an oil magnate.

“Thank you,” David said as he smiled in his direction. Craig silently watched his family. He was impressed with what he was seeing. He felt pleased that he and his wife had instilled enough discipline in them to make them what they were at that moment.

They ate dinner while they talked about everyone’s progress in their fields. The children weren’t left out as they allowed them to talk about what they had gotten in school.

David easily flowed with Taylor because Taylor seemed to go on the same path as him with his love for basketball. In fact, he excelled in it. By the time they were done with dinner, everyone was filled with laughter, and they were relaxed.

“I like having my grandchildren around,” Mrs. Murray beamed as she adoringly stared at them.

“Everyone knows that,” David said as he chuckled while his siblings joined in. David glanced at Sienna and noticed she wasn’t her bubbly self. She joined in the discussion and also laughed, but David could sense that it was all forced. He wanted to talk to his usually lively sister but refrained from calling attention to her. He made a mental note to speak with her in a more private setting after dinner.

“If you knew that, you would have also deemed it fit to give me grandchildren,” Mrs. Murray said, and David groaned.

“Not again, Mom,” David said as everyone burst into laughter.

“I’ll keep telling you until you give love a chance,” Mrs. Murray said.

“I don’t think you have to worry about that for a long time, Mom,” Gabrielle said as she passed David a mischievous grin. David frowned before realization hit him that Benjamin may have told her about calling him Chalondra.

“Is that so?” Mrs. Murray asked. She was clearly intrigued.

“Yes,” Gabrielle said while David chuckled.

“Mom, don’t listen to a word that comes out of her mouth. You know me, I don’t do stable,” David said, and Mrs. Murray let out a sigh.

“I believed that too until you called Benjamin a woman’s name. That has never happened to you before,” Gabrielle said.

Mrs. Murray’s eyes widened. “Is that so? Who is this woman?” she rapidly fired.

“I’m sorry, Mom, but David kept the details,” Gabrielle said as he winked at David. David couldn’t be furious at his sister-in-law for letting out something like that at a family dinner.

“I see. When are we meeting her? What’s her name?” Mrs. Murray asked.

“You aren’t meeting anyone. I have no idea what Gabrielle is talking about,” David said as he gave Gabrielle a pointed look. She merely shrugged at him before he returned his attention to his mom.

“Mom, can we forget talks about me getting a woman?” David said.

“We can focus on having a good time with each other. This doesn’t happen often, you know,” David said.

“I agree with him. It’s not all the time everyone is around to celebrate like this,” Craig said, and Mrs. Murray accepted this and dropped the topic. David hadn’t thought that his dad would be the one to save him, but he was grateful that he did. They chatted for the next few hours before each of the siblings started taking their leave one after the other. David was the third to leave, and it was late at night. He got back to his apartment a little close to the early hours of the morning. There was no way he would call Chalondra again because he knew she would be asleep. He decided to call her the next morning and hoped she would answer the call.
