“Trust me, there is. It’s unexplainable,” Natasha said. Chalondra realized there was no way she would be able to make sense of what Natasha was saying.
“Okay, I wish you the best, girl. However, I still want you to be careful,” Chalondra said.
“I will.”
“Good.”
“I have to go now,” Natasha said.
“Okay, I’ll talk to you later,” Chalondra responded.
“Same here. Give the date a trial; who knows what that might lead to,” Natasha said.
“I don’t want it to lead to anything, so that’s the more reason for me not to go,” Chalondra insisted.
“Whatever,” Natasha said.
“Take care of yourself, bye,” Natasha said as Chalondra smiled.
“Bye,” Chalondra responded.
Chalondra sighed as she placed her phone on the table once more. She thought of what Natasha said about giving the date a trial. She wanted to be as far as David as possible. He was the exactly the kind of man she would run away from on a usual basis because David was like a fire, and she was scared of getting burned.
Her phone beeped with an alert of an incoming message. She knew before she checked it that it was from David. The message asked her if she had gotten the flowers and how she should consider the date. Chalondra sighed as she dropped her phone on the table. Chalondra realized Natasha was right about the fact that she wouldn’t be able to ignore David for long. He was determined to make that impossible.

“Would you like to have anything, sir?” Ms. Chelsea asked as David stepped inside his apartment. He had his full concentration on his phone. Chalondra was increasingly keeping him on edge with her constant refusal to go on a date with him. David couldn’t help but admit that she had him tied up in knots. No woman has been able to keep him on the edge as she did. David briefly wondered if it was a game to her, but shelved the idea when he recalled his last conversation with her and how she out rightly told him how uninterested she was in him. It was close to a week now since he had been asking her on a date. He had done everything he knew made women swoon, but none of it had gotten the effect he wanted. He had repeatedly called Chalondra, and she had refused to answer her calls. He had not ceased sending flowers to her as well as text messages hoping to sway her mind.
“No, I’m going to my parent’s place in a few minutes’ time,” David responded when he realized that Ms. Chelsea was still waiting for his response.
“Okay, sir,” Ms. Chelsea said before she left him alone. David sauntered to his bedroom to change for dinner with his family. He was exhausted, but he didn’t want a massage from Ms. Chelsea. He knew the only thing that could relieve his stress was if Chalondra agreed to go on a date with him.
However, that seemed like a distant dream. David was puzzled about Chalondra’s constant refusal. It made things uneasy for him. He had spent the past few days thinking about no one else but her. He couldn’t bring himself to think of anyone else. All the women he had been with became a blur, and his only focus was on Chalondra. He wanted her with an intensity that he had never felt before. The feeling she awakened in him wasn’t something he was used to. He wasn’t a flowers and text messages kind of man, but Chalondra brought that out of him within a few days without having to do anything. He couldn’t count the number of times he had been tempted to go to Carnero’s with the hope of catching a glimpse of her. However, he knew if he did that, he wouldn’t be able to resist wanting to speak with her. As it was, he was eager to hear her soft voice again. He hadn’t been able to keep his mind of thoughts about her. He found himself thinking about her all day. David knew he wanted to push it to the limit but was determined to take it slow and not ruin all his whole plans.
David smiled at the thought of how it would feel if he had Chalondra in his bed after everything. The victory that would come after that was enough to make him continue pushing. David freshened up within minutes and was dressed for dinner at the family’s estate.
David left his apartment and headed for the Murray estate some minutes later. He contemplated giving Chalondra a call but shoved the thought aside as he thought of calling her when he returned from his family dinner. He got to the gate of his family’s estate after a thirty minute drive, and the automatic gate opened. David drove in and parked his car in front of the mansion. He smiled when he saw his siblings’ cars. His brother had been telling the truth when he had said it was going to be a full house.
He parked his Aston Martin and headed for the entrance. He raised his hand to knock, but the door opened, and Mrs. Anna Campbell, his parent’s housekeeper, opened the door with a smile. She was in her mid-fifties and had a petite figure.
“Good evening, Mr. Murray,” she greeted as she pulled the door open for him. David was glad that it wasn’t Cara, the other housekeeper who constantly flirted with him. David could see through her every move. She was after his money like most women. He hadn’t attempted anything with her because he had respect for his parents, and having an affair with Cara would mess things up with him.
“Good evening, Anna,” David replied as he stepped into the house.
“Where is everyone?” David asked.
“They are in the dining room,” Anna replied.
“Okay,” David said before he headed for there. He was close to the room when he heard chatters filtering from the room.
Conversation stopped as David pushed open the door and entered.
“David!” Mrs. Murray called out with a smile.
“Here is the man of the hour,” Craig said with a broad smile.
“Good evening, Mom,” David said as he crossed the distance and kissed her on her cheeks.
“Good evening, dear,” Mrs. Murray said with a smile.

“Good evening, Dad,” David said as he glanced in his father’s direction. David greeted his siblings one after the other and their partners. He started from Benjamin and Gabrielle, then Austin and Briana, Daniel and Melissa. He greeted Sienna before he focused on his nephews and nieces, who were six in number. It took a few minutes before David could settle down on an empty chair.
“I’m happy to have all of you here,” Mrs. Murray said with a smile. The busy nature of David and his siblings’ work made it impossible for them to visit the estate constantly. “I can’t remember the last time I had all of you present like this before,” she added, and David chuckled.
“Mom, you know how this works,” David said as Anna entered the dining room with Cara and the other staff with trays of food. “We have busy schedules,” David continued.
“You are all busy that you can’t even make time for your family?” Mrs. Murray asked with an annoyed look.
“It’s not like that, Mom,” David said as he tried to calm her.
