Chapter 2

Andre.

When Andre woke up the next day feeling surer of himself than ever before he knew the next move he needed to take. After talking to Max and doing more research Andre had decided that he would look into surrogacy. In that way he could biologically be the father of the child. He knew he would have to find a woman that would also use her eggs as well as carry the baby to full term because he had no one to ask when it came to egg donation.

He had thought about asking his close friend Rachael but knew that she wouldn’t understand. Sure, he had spoken to her about his plans of being a father someday, and she always seemed to laugh it off without fully understanding him. He could understand why she couldn’t comprehend because she was nowhere near the same level of thinking he was on.

He didn’t blame her, she said she had no time for children every time the topic was brought up; she then add with a laugh that she hardly had any time for herself so how would she look after a baby? He knew that asking her to donate her eggs would be a very awkward conversation and he decided he would just avoid it altogether.

After doing some research that night, Andre realized that if he were to hire a surrogate and use her eggs, he would have to pay a lot of money. However, he knew he’d do anything, and he would need a surrogate that would live with him. He wanted to be as involved with the grown and birth of the baby as any father would be.

Andre sent in an inquiry to one of the places he had looked at the night before and felt positive that he was one step closer to getting everything he wanted.

“Morning, Marco. I need you to please call my mother and my brother for me; I will need to have dinner with them both later today,” Andre said when Marco answered the office phone.

“Morning boss, yes, of course. I will get right on it,” he replied.

“Perfect, I will see you at the office shortly,” Andre said as he hung up.

He knew having to talk to his mother would be difficult. She, of course, wouldn’t understand the need and desire he had. She always made it clear that he would meet someone one day and they’d be perfect for each other. However, Andre was tired of waiting for that someone.

Andre started brainstorming what he would say when they were all together. He knew that Max would still fight him on his plan, but his mother would disagree completely. She was an old-fashioned kind of woman, she only knew that men must marry first and then have children with their wives. It was the natural order of things in her mind. Of course, Andre planned on being respectful, but his mother’s opinion would not stop him from going forward with his plan.

He had done all the thinking in the world to make sure that he was doing the right thing for himself and he believed he was ready. He knew that having a child would be hard, especially because he was doing it alone, but he had read baby books. He had been buying them for a few months so he could learn some basic baby care tips. He felt as if he was ready for the baby as much as he’d ever be.

He knew that the possibility of dating as a single dad would be hard, but he also knew that if he ended up with a child, he would be okay to be on his own for the rest of his life. Of course, he would love to have a partner to share his life with because he was just such a loving person that just wanted someone to share his love with, he wanted someone to grow old with.

Dear Mr. Bekker.

After receiving your inquiry, we are pleased to say that we have a few suitable candidates for you.

All of our women are the best you could ask for. We offer a small selection of women who would be surrogates as well as provide the egg for the process.

If you are interested in seeing our selection, please feel free to contact me.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Susan Kenny.

Andre’s heart sped up at the idea of being one step closer to his dream. He knew he would want to see the candidates and what kind of genetics the child would get from its biological mother.

He popped an email back to Susan, letting her know that he would be interested in seeing the candidates available to him. Although he hadn’t spoken to his mother, yet he was determined to get the process started.

On his way to his office, Andre tried to mentally prepare himself for the day ahead. He had a lot of work to do before he could even think too much about his mother. He tried to push the thought of her possible reactions as far out of his brain as possible considering he had a business to focus on.

Once he arrived at the office, he went straight to the technicians so he could share the problems he had with the watch the night before. There weren’t any major problems, but he wanted everything to be perfect for the launch of the product. Of course, there was still time before the launch. He also knew that it took time to perfect everything.

He couldn’t risk having any mistakes, especially when his company was ground-breaking in the technology field.

“Good morning gentlemen, it’s good to see you all here and ready to get things going. Obviously, I tried the watch last night and I have a few things that we need to look at. Firstly, the Bluetooth setup has to be simplified. Although I know how a smartwatch works, I fear that others will struggle. It took me a while to get connected and I think we can make it quicker and easier,” he said.

The team nodded their heads and wrote down notes. Andre had picked a great team when he had done his research and he prided himself on always doing the necessary work before jumping into anything.

He appreciated the time and effort his team put into making sure they made the best product available. He had handpicked and spoken to every single person he hired, making sure that they could also handle the pressure of it all.

His business was the only thing that mattered to him, he worked long hours and put himself into making it the greatest thing that could ever exist during his lifetime. He was lucky enough to be one of the few visionaries and although he had competitors on all sides, he still had not been beaten with any of his ideas.

“Also, the sensors in the fridge, they’re not specific enough. I know we need to make a specialized database for pretty much every single food item that could possibly go into a fridge but if we plan on being great, we have to make sure that we cover all the facts and right now the sensors aren’t accurate, does anyone have any suggestions?” he asked.
