They arrived at the restaurant with a few minutes to spare and as they entered Sophie noticed Olivia already at their reserved table.

“Look at you,” she said as she took in how big Sophie looked,” and of course, you’re carrying it all on your stomach.”

Sophie laughed and hugged her friend before she introduced Andre and Olivia to each other.

“Olivia, this is Andre and Andre this is Olivia,” she said as she moved for them to see each other. Andre moved in to give Olivia a quick hug.

“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” Olivia said.

“Same to you,” he replied.

He pulled out a chair for Sophie before quickly doing the same for Olivia.

“You’re such a gentleman,” Olivia noted.

“Only when it works in my favor,” Andre joked.

Olivia and Sophie spent a bit of time catching up with Andre sat quietly and listened. It was so good to see Sophie smile and being completely comfortable around someone other than him. He hadn’t met any of her other friends so he had started to wonder how she would be like around other people.

“So, Andre, tell me something,” Olivia said as she brought her attention to him.

“What would you like to know?” he asked.

“Well, firstly. What are your intentions with Sophie now that she is pregnant with your child and no longer your surrogate?” Olivia asked.

“Truth be told, I intend on marrying her,” he said as he looked at Sophie whose eyes widened with shock as she almost choked on her water.

“What?” she stuttered.

“Well, I didn’t intend on doing it now because I don’t have a ring or anything like that but Sophie Holland, will you marry me?” he asked as he moved off the chair and kneeled down at her side.

He was empty-handed considering he hadn’t planned on proposing yet, but the moment felt right and when the idea had formed in his head just a little while earlier, he didn’t see the point in waiting. They were already a family so why not just make it legal?

“Are you sure about this?” Sophie whispered, completely shocked by the situation.

“Of course, I am. I love you Sophie and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. We haven’t had the most conventional relationship, but I wouldn’t have it any other way because it’s you and it’s me. We’re going to be a family and I want to be a family with you forever,” Andre said.

His voice was thick with emotion as his speech tumbled out of his mouth, meaning every word as he went.

Sophie smiled from ear to ear as she stared down at him on the floor.

“I’m sorry I don’t have a ring,” he muttered.

“Oh, I don’t care about that,” Sophie cried as she leaned down and kissed him, “I love you too and so yes, to answer your question, yes. I will marry you,” she said through tears.

The entire restaurant, who must have been watching the whole exchanged exploded into cheers. Sophie and Andre laughed as they kissed, holding each other for a moment as they sealed the deal.

Andre couldn’t believe he had asked Sophie to marry him and she said yes. Of course, he hadn’t thought she would say no but it all seemed so surreal at that moment.

“Well, I guess congratulations are in order,” Olivia said with a smile, “I just want you to look after her. She is one of the most important people in my life.”

“I plan on taking care of her for the rest of my life,” Andre said, beaming.

“Good, so now that we’ve got that out of the way let’s order some food shall we,” Olivia said.

They ordered their meals and continued to talk and have a small talk over dinner as Olivia and Andre got to know each other. He knew it was important to Sophie that he tried with her friend, so he asked her a lot of questions, the important ones and made sure that Olivia knew that he was a good guy.

“Have you decided on a name for the little one yet?” Olivia asked Sophie as they finished eating dessert.

“We have, her name is Quin. Quin Bekker,” Sophie said with a smile.

The fact that not only will the baby have Andre’s name, but so will Sophie make his heart soar. The girl he had crushed on for years was his fiancé and the mother of his child, he knew he must have done something right in his life to get everything he could possibly want.

“That’s cute,” Olivia said.

“Thank you, we think so too,” Sophie replied.

Andre could tell that Olivia was a bit awkward when it came to baby talk and he could understand that she wasn’t on the same level as they were when it came to the excitement of having a baby, she didn’t seem anywhere near ready to settle down by the way she talked about her life.

“Well, it’s getting late, so I think we’ll be off,” Sophie announced to the table.

Andre knew that although Sophie wasn’t working anymore, she was getting tired really quickly. She didn’t actually tell him that she quit but Andre had figured it out himself and decided not to mention it until she did, he thought that maybe she wasn’t ready to say anything because she was always so scared that she came across like she was using him for his money. He would give her everything he owned if she asked, he loved her that much.

“It was so good to see you, and it was good to meet you, Andre. Thank you for making me a part of your special moment too,” Olivia said as they walked together to the entrance of the restaurant.

“It was a pleasure to meet you, Olivia, I hope to see you around our place soon. Maybe we can have lunch there,” Andre suggested.

“That sounds like a plan,” Olivia replied, “until then, be safe you two,” she said as she hugged Sophie goodbye before walking off to her car.

Andre opened the door for Sophie and soon they were on their way home. The atmosphere around them was buzzing with the excitement of the night. Andre could see that Sophie was over the moon.

“Tomorrow we will go get you a ring,” Andre said.

“Really?” Sophie asked.

“Of course, I should’ve waited to get one before I asked but it just felt right to ask tonight,” he replied.

“It doesn’t matter that you didn’t have a ring. Tonight, was amazing and perfect in every way,” Sophie said with a grin.

Andre loved seeing her so happy and being able to be a part of her happiness made it that much more special to him. He knew that they were perfect for each other.

“It’s amazing and perfect because it’s you and me,” he said as he reached across with his one hand to place her closest hand on his thigh so he could hold her hand while driving. The car being an automatic, so he didn’t need to worry about changing gears.

“You, me and Quin. Sounds like the best life possible,” Sophie replied as she squeezed his hand.

Once they were at home and in bed, Andre fell asleep holding Sophie close to him as he rested his one hand on her bump. He was in some sort of heaven as he smiled in his sleep.
