He made his way home, knowing that the work would still continue regardless of his work hours. The demo for the new watch had been sent to him and he needed to test it out. His technicians were the best in the country and with their help, Andre had managed to create some of the best smartwatches available. His company had been the first company to invent a watch that could hold a person’s information in case of an emergency. The watch had been designed to store the blood type, allergies and emergency contact information for the wearer of the watch to make things easier when needed.
Andre wanted to be the first person to simplify the need for certain things that people could live without. Why wear a number of different bracelets when you could have a watch that could carry all the information needed at a click of a button? Andre wanted to be the greatest at everything, and his new watch idea had a feature that could simplify grocery shopping. The watch would link to the fridge and recognize what items are most bought, then create a shopping list that was customized to the person and with a click of a button that list could be ordered and delivered to the persons door. It was technology way more advanced than anything in the world and he had high hopes that it would work. He knew the future was technology and he wanted to be a part of it.
He arrived home after being stuck in traffic. He picked up the package that was at his front door before heading inside. His house was his biggest achievement outside of his business. It had been designed specifically for him and he was extremely happy with the outcome. It had two garages, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 lounges, 1 study, and a huge backyard. It was big enough for 5 people even though he lived alone. He had chosen something big because he knew he wanted to have a family, a family that could involve a woman but maybe not because of how hard he found it to actually date someone.
He placed the watch on his wrist and linked it to his fridge, which he had specifically designed to have Bluetooth and a sensor. He knew that if he wanted to be the greatest, he had to think of everything. The watch and the fridge would be sold together and separately too, each of them capable of working alone but better if together.
Andre went about his evening as he normally would, answering emails that were urgent, making a few late calls that couldn’t be ignored and of course, making a meal for one. He had over time mastered the art of cooking for one. After years of practice, he had learned how to make portions just big enough for himself.
Although he wouldn’t admit it to anyone, Andre longed for companionship. He had loved before and he longed to love again. He had been single for a while and every time he tried to form a relationship with someone things had a way of falling apart. It was either because they would take advantage of him and his money or they couldn’t handle the fact that for him, the work never stopped.

He ate dinner at his dining room table, set for one as he typed out the few things that he felt would need to be fixed about the watch. He proceeded to shower before switching on his TV to watch the series he had started. He tried to distract himself, thinking about what his brother said about making sure he understood what he would get himself into if he had a child on his own.
To help ease his mind he got a notepad and a pen and started writing down the pros and cons. The pros were a lot longer than the cons and he knew it was probably because he was so certain of himself. He knew that his brother had some valid points and he considered them in his list-making but still, he was sure he was ready to take the necessary steps he needed in order to have a family.
He wanted something that was worth all the money he made, something he could give himself to. He loved his company and he loved what he did for a living, but he wanted more. He placed down his list and decided to fetch his laptop from his study, wanting to research how he could make his dream of having a family come true. He would stop at nothing and he would pay any amount of money needed just to make sure he got what he wanted.
He searched adoption options first, thinking that maybe he could adopt a child that needed a home. He knew it would be the best choice so at least he would be playing a role in making a difference but the more he thought about it the more he decided that he would want a child that shared his DNA. He knew he was being a little selfish, especially considering that there were children also looking for their own family, but he was certain that if he were to have a child, he would want it to be his from the get-go. He didn’t think anyone would understand his way of thinking, but he also knew that his happiness was what he put first.
He wasn’t sure if he’d ever get married considering finding someone to settle down with had started to be a problem. He had tried dating websites and blind dates set up by his brother but no one he met stuck around long enough. He knew that if he wanted to make something happen, he would have to do it on his own. Secretly, he knew it would work out better that way. Despite the longing he felt for more he also couldn’t picture himself getting to know someone again just to have them leave. He deserved more, he wanted more.
