Chapter 10
Andre.
Everything in Andre’s life was going perfectly. Nothing was going according to plan but either way, it was still working out even better than he had ever thought.
He had managed to get his smartwatch and fridge duo working perfectly together. He had run a few different test runs allowing his team to take the duo home to test so he could see how it worked in different households. He had managed to get the database so precise that no one on his team had any issues.
He sent out a few to different companies that could be interested in his idea in the hopes that the word would get around, he wanted the hype for the duo to be bigger and better than ever before.
Max surprisingly took on a lot of the work while Andre spent more time with Sophie. Even though Max hadn’t said much about the situation, Andre hoped that he was on board with the whole thing.
“Max, what do you think of Sophie?” Andre asked as they sat in his office.
“What do you mean?” his brother asked.
“Well, you haven’t said anything to me about the situation and you didn’t say much at the lunch we had, so what do you think of her?” Andre asked.
“Honestly, I think she’s really good for you. Of course, I didn’t expect any of this to happen. I mean I didn’t even think you’d go through with the whole surrogacy thing to begin with, but she seems like a really good person and she looks like she makes you happy,” he replied.
Andre smiled at his brother’s answer, he was happy that he got his indirect approval of everything. He wasn’t exactly looking for it, but it made him feel better about it all.
“She really does make me happy,” he told his brother, “I feel as if I’ve gotten everything I could’ve wanted and so much more now that she’s around.”
“I’m really happy for you little brother,” Max said.
“Thank you, Max. I’m so happy to know that. How are things with you? Any better?” he asked.
“The rough patch isn’t so rough anymore, so I guess everything has worked out for both of us,” he said.
“That’s fantastic news, Max, I’m sure neither of you wants to separate so I’m glad it’s all working out. Can you believe you’re going to be an uncle and I’m going to be a father? I still struggle to get that in my head,” Andre said.
“You still want it though, don’t you?” his brother asked.
“Oh, more than anything. Sophie and I are going to start decorating my office so that’ll be the baby’s room, I’ll be making the other bedroom my office. It’s very exciting,” Andre said.
“And are you two going to get married? You’re starting a family after all,” Max said.
“I don’t know if we’ll get married anytime soon but sometime in the near future, I’m sure we’ll talk about it. Although we love each other and have agreed that we want to be together we still have a lot to figure out. I know that when the baby is here Sophie will probably want to go back to work, but that we need to discuss too,” Andre said.
“Isn’t it strange how everything works out? You wanted a family, sure you had planned to have a child on your own but now you’re getting a proper family,” his brother mused.
“I know. Honestly, I think it was supposed to work out this way. I know it all worked out in a weird way but maybe that’s how it was supposed to happen,” Andre replied.
“Everything works out the way it’s meant to, right?” Max asked.
“Exactly,” Andre replied.
Andre couldn’t believe that he had gotten so lucky in the end. He had been so determined to have a child that he wouldn’t have stopped for anything and now he was going to be a father with the woman he loved. He also couldn’t grasp the concept and after all the time he spent admiring Sophie from afar he was finally with her, it still seemed crazy to him.
He and Sophie still had a lot of planning to do, especially with the baby’s room but Andre had said that over the next month they could put it all together considering they only have two months left. He knew he wouldn’t let Sophie do much even though she was capable. He couldn’t stop himself from being protective over her and the baby, he wanted to make sure that nothing happened to either of them.
“You’re going to make an amazing father, dad would be proud,” Max said.
Andre focused on his brother as he took in what he had said. He was shocked his brother had said something like that because they weren’t exactly a mushy pair the two of them.
“You really think so?” Andre asked, his voice thick with emotion.
“I really do. Just look at everything you’re doing, he would be proud regardless,” his brother replied.
Overwhelmed with emotion Andre got up from his desk and walked over to his brother, thank you,” he said as he hugged his brother properly for the first time in years.
“Don’t get all soppy on me now,” his brother teased as he hugged him back.
Andre laughed as he let his brother go. They spent a little more time in his office together, talking through the business and how much work Max would be willing to do once the baby arrived. Andre was surprised that his brother was so willing to pick up the slack for a while, his brother had never been the type of person to do much for other people, Andre included.
“I will get Marco to draw up a temporary contract for what will be expected from you for let’s say three months, so everything is sorted while I’m always,” Andre said.

“That sounds like a plan, just fax it through to me once it’s done and then we can move on,” Max said, his little emotional mood disappearing.
Andre smiled to himself. He hadn’t expected his brother to play nice the entire time, but it had been nice while it had lasted.
“Let’s get back to business then,” Andre said.
“Right,” his brother replied as he got up to leave and just like that everything was the same between them again.
Andre spent the rest of the day writing up the contract for his brother, he sent it off to his legal team to make sure everything was fine before he sent it on to Marco with the note of sending it to his brother.
