She knew that Andre would be open to the topic of marriage, after all, he wanted the family lifestyle, which obviously didn’t just include having a baby now that he and Sophie were together.

“Right now, my only concern is having a healthy baby, myself and Andre will discuss amongst ourselves if or when we will get married,” she replied. She knew that since the conversation had been started that there was a high chance of her and Andre discussing it that night, but she didn’t feel the need in discussing it further with her parents.

“Okay. So, you’re having a baby,” her mother beamed as she placed her hands on her stomach. It just so happened that the baby was active so as her mother placed her hands on her belly, she felt her kicked, “it’s strong.”

“She, she’s strong,” Andre corrected with a smile.

“It’s a girl?” Sophie’s mother exclaimed with pure happiness on her face.

“Yes, mom. It’s a girl,” Sophie replied gently, “I or should I say, we, have some other big news for you.”

“What’s that?” her father asked from his chair. He hadn’t moved since they had arrived, Sophie could tell her father wasn’t as happy as her mother was about the situation.

“I’ve moved in with Andre and that means my house is empty, so I’ve decided to change its ownership. It’s yours, I’m giving you my house. You won’t need to pay anything, everything is already paid for,” Sophie said.

The room fell silent as the news hovered in the air.

“This is outrageous. You know that we don’t expect you to help us anymore. It was a one-time thing and I offered to pay the money back,” her father exclaimed. He did not sound happy.

“I know dad, I know. But I want to help. I want to help however I can, you guys worked so hard to get me through school and so I want to give something back to you,” she said.

“We can’t accept it,” her father said sternly.

“Dad, please, stop being so stubborn. Whether you live in the house or not, it is still yours,” she said.

“You cannot think I’d be okay with this,” her father replied.

“Yes, I knew you wouldn’t be okay with it, but it’s done. I’ll have the keys dropped off here tomorrow and if you choose to move in just let me know and I can arrange a moving company to help you,” Sophie said, “I didn’t come here to fight or anything, I came here to tell you that I am happy and that you will be grandparents.”

“Of course, dear. We know that. We’re just shocked, that’s all. It’s a lot to take in at once,” her mother explained.

“I know mom, and I’m sorry to have kept this from you. I was just scared,” Sophie said.

“We’re here for you no matter what Sophie, I wish you would understand that,” her father sighed.

Her father finally got up off the couch and walked over to her, he took her into his arms and hugged her tightly before letting her go to shake Andre’s hand, “it’s nice to meet you,” he said.

“You too sir,” Andre replied.

Sophie and Andre stayed for a while longer as they had tea with Sophie’s parents’ who by the time, they left agreed that moving would be a good idea. They thanked Sophie for her generosity over and over again before they hugged goodbye.

“I love you,” she said to her mom and dad.

“We love you too,” her mother replied before waving them off as they got into the car and left.

Sophie relaxed completely once in the car, the stress of the day leaving her as they made their way home.

“Thank you for coming with me and for taking me there. I’m sorry I can’t tell them the complete truth but it’s not because I want to hide you,” Sophie said to Andre as he drove them home.

“I know you’re not hiding me, and now that I’ve met your parents, I can understand why you wanted to do it that way. I will support you when it comes to everything,” Andre replied.

“You truly are an amazing man,” Sophie said lovingly.

“Why thank you,” he replied.

Sophie felt a lot better about her pregnancy after getting most of her worries out of the way. She knew she still had a lot of explaining to do when it came to Olivia, but she would wait to talk to her another time because she was actually exhausted from the lunch and the meeting with her parents. She couldn’t wait to get home so she could nap.

“I think I’m going to have a nap when we get back,” Sophie said.

“That’s fine. While you do that I’ll attend to some business and I’ll get started on buying your house so we can get those keys over to your parents,” Andre said.

“Thank you again for helping me with all of this. I don’t take anything for granted,” she replied.

“I’m always happy to help,” he said.

They drove the rest of the way home just listening to the radio. It had been a long day for both of them even though the stressful events had only taken a few hours in total, the stress of it all had worn them out.

Once they had arrived home, Sophie gave Andre a quick kiss before she made her way to their bedroom, changing into her comfy clothes in the process so she could collapse on the bed. It took her a while to get comfortable but before too long she was fast asleep.

Sophie woke up in a dark room, momentarily confused as to where she was. She moved and felt something next to her and when her eyes adjusted, she was happy to see Andre asleep next to her. He had clearly snuck into bed while she was sleeping. She looked at the clock on the bedside table and noticed that it was only 7 pm, her stomach growled in recognition.
