“You will have to give me at least an hour to get ready,” Sophie replied as she started to get up and walk to the bathroom.
“I can even give you three hours, we’re meeting them at 3 pm for a late lunch,” Andre announced, “which gives me plenty of time to cancel our contract if that is also what you want?”
“Yes, that is what I want. I’m ready for this,” Sophie said as she came back into his view from the bathroom doorway, her hand on her belly as she smiled at him. He knew exactly what she meant, and he was excited to officially have a family of his own. Not only was he getting blessed with a baby girl, but he had ended up with the girl of his dreams.
“I am so happy to hear that,” Andre said as he got up from the bed and walked over to her. He kissed her on the lips before he dropped to his knees to kiss her belly, “we’re going to be one happy family going forward,” he whispered to the baby.
“That we are,” Sophie said.
“Have you thought of a name for her?” Andre asked as he got back to his feet and walked into the bathroom to run a bath.
“I was thinking of Quin, Quin Bekker has a nice ring to it,” she replied.
“Quin,” Andre said, “I like that.”
“What are you doing?” she asked as she watched him pour the soap into the bath creating bubbles.
“I’m running you a bath,” he replied.
“You’re so amazing,” Sophie said as she slipped out of her nightgown and carefully stepped into the bath, “you didn’t tell me your name ideas though.”
“I was thinking of Elizabeth, but I prefer Quin now,” he said.
“Elizabeth is also a pretty name. Maybe we can choose one when we meet her,” Sophie said as she rubbed her belly.
“That sounds like a plan. While you enjoy your bath, I am going to go cancel our contract,” Andre said before leaving Sophie in the bathroom.
Between the time it took for Sophie to finish her bath which had to be around 30 minutes Andre had made the appropriate calls to cancel the contract while also making sure that Sophie was granted her rights to the baby so they could continue to see each other as a couple. At first, the lawyers tried to fight Andre on his requests but once reminded of who he was and what he could do to their careers if he is denied they soon made all the arrangements necessary for them to have no law restrictions against them.
“Could you make me some tea, please?” Sophie asked as she walked into the lounge in a bathrobe, “and do we still have some muffins? I need to eat something before we go for lunch.”
“Of course, and yes we do. Just sit down and relax, I’ll get it all for you,” Andre said as he walked to the kitchen, making his way past Sophie who had started to reach for a mug.
“Just because I’m pregnant does not mean I can’t do things for myself,” she said as she rolled her eyes.
“I know you can do it on your own, but I want to do something nice for you,” he said.
“Well, thank you. I suppose we should discuss what will happen to my house now that we’re officially together,” Sophie said.
“That’s a good thing to bring up. I thought that if you’re comfortable with it you can move in here completely, we can take out the door that separates the house so it’s one big house and then we can put your house up for sale,” Andre suggested.
He could tell that Sophie wanted to keep her house when they had met, obviously, that was under different circumstances, so he hoped that she would see that selling her house would be the best thing to do.
“I was thinking of selling it too. I mean, we’re going to be living together so there’s no point in keeping it standing empty just because I used to live in it,” she said.
“I can help you with the arrangements if you want,” Andre said as he gave her a muffin and her tea while she sat on the couch.
“That would be helpful, thank you,” she replied before she took a bite of her muffin.

“Now that we have that sorted, I think we should talk about the money I was going to pay you for being my surrogate. Obviously, now that we are a couple, technically I don’t need to pay it out to you because the contract has ended but I also don’t expect you to think that I’ll stop paying for everything now because I’ll continue to do that regardless. The only thing I want to know is if you’d still like the money so you can use it for whatever you want or if you’d like me to create a trust fund and put that money away for our child,” Andre said.
Sophie sat quietly on the couch, continuing to eat her muffin. Andre gave her some time to think as he made himself a cup of coffee.
“Hmm, well I think as long as I’m looked after, the money can go toward the baby,” she said with a small shrug.
“Of course, you’ll be looked after,” Andre said with a smile as he kissed her on top of her head.
“Well, then. It’s sorted,” Sophie beamed.
