“I have no idea,” Diana answered honestly. “He’s been hinting about changing the date, which I don’t want to do. It’s weird, because, you know, nothing is going to change once we’re married except my last name, but it’s really important to me to marry him. I mean, we already live together, we share expenses, we do everything a married couple does, we’re just missing a stupid piece of paper that binds us legally.”

“It’s amazing how the little piece of paper can be so important,” Rena affirmed.

“I’ll talk to him. I have three days to find the right words,” she chirped. “For now, let’s go drink our wine until we can’t see straight. You can sleep on the couch.”

Marty’s Mercedes pulled into the driveway three days later around six. Diana was waiting at the door for him, rushed outside, and threw her arms around him before he could close the car door. She kissed him all over his face, so happy was she that her man was finally home.

“This trip was too long,” she murmured as she trapped his lips under hers, kissing him soundly before releasing him.

“I agree, my love,” he whispered as he hauled her up against him and kissed her thoroughly. “I hope you’re ready for some loving.”

“I’ve been ready for three days!” she announced. “But let’s get your stuff out of the car first so you don’t have to worry about it later.” She rounded the car as he reached in and pressed the button to open. “I’m having pizza delivered around seven.”

“Meat lover’s, I hope,” he hinted. She pinned him with a stare, her expression clearly stating she knew his pizza preferences. “Wings too?”

“Boy, why on Earth are you asking me if I ordered your favorites?” she chided as she reached for his hanger bags.

Marty grabbed the heavier one before she tried to get it. “Well, you know. What flavor wings did you get?”

“Sh*t flavored.” Diana rolled her eyes as she opened the front door so he could roll his suitcase inside. “I think you’ll like it.”

“Smart ass,” he grumbled as he bumped her hip with his.

“I have some cheese and crackers in the kitchen if you’re hungry now,” she offered as they tromped to their room so they could set his luggage down.

After dropping his stuff on the floor, he grabbed her, jerking the hanger bag out of her hand and tossing it down on top of the suitcase.
