“But…why? I thought you deserted him too?” Donte asked. He was confused, and I could tell he honestly thought his friend was a good guy. I would be pissed too if I found out that my former best friend was nothing but a dirty traitor.
“Well, I think it’s obvious. I’m not a deserter. Raphael wanted me to be a sentry for him, to find some of the vampires that left him, or ones that would be perfect for his clan. He also wanted me to find some humans as well, and so far I’ve turned this luckless fool into one of us. Of course, his luck is now better since he’s on the right side. Soon, I’ll be able to turn more people. I wanted to turn that one couple with the nice house down the street. They’re so friendly when they come to get gas. Too bad I’m more interested in getting rid of them than anything else,” he said.
“You bas*ard!” I cried out. It was hard to talk, I could feel the dryness in my throat. I felt weaker now than when I woke up. Was there something wrong with these restraints? Did they do something to me?
“Don’t try to struggle Alice. These restraints are slowly sucking away your power. Within three days you will both be lifeless fools and that’s more than enough time for Raphael to come over and kill the both of you. I can’t wait to see that!” Cameron said.
So it was true.
“Oh, and I did inject a poison into you as well. This will help to make sure you don’t do anything foolish. It’ll make you weaker too, and soon you‘ll be nothing but a lifeless body. Well, a lifeless body that’s going to be alive until my boss takes care of things,” Cameron cackled. The other vampire laughed as well. I was frustrated. I knew that it was going to be hell on earth to get the hell out of here. I needed to get out of here and beat the crap out of this loser. I knew he’s the asshole behind all of this. Cameron laughed at my struggle, but he didn’t do anything else. He and the other guy walked away, leaving the two of us alone. I was scared, but I knew it would get better. I looked over at Donte with shock present on my face.
“I feel nervous,” I said.
“Me too. I have no idea how to get out of here. We have three days to leave. And I don’t think they’re going to feed us either,” Donte replied.
I nodded. I could feel my thirst for blood growing, and soon I felt almost a psychotic rage come over me. I started to shake, the shackles making a noise. The other vampire yelled at me to shut the fu*k up and stay silent, but I wasn’t going to be able to. I was scared, and I could tell that it was only going to get worse.
“What’s happening to me?” I asked.
“It’s a sign of a lack of blood. First, you’ll have the spasms, and then you’ll start to feel yourself grow weak until you’re forced into a catatonic state. It’s really nasty, and I don’t want to think about when that’s going to happen to me,” he replied.
I could feel the trepidation looming over my body. I hated it, and I knew there was no way that it would be easy to get past all of this. I looked at Donte, wondering what to do next.
The next couple of hours were both boring and fearsome. I could feel myself growing weaker, and I knew it was going to be insane. Donte also looked spent, but he wasn’t being as adversely affected as I was. I tried to think of a plan, and after a moment I thought of something. I started to play with the shackles, realizing that the way to get them off would be a key. I also noticed that I had a hairpin in my hair. I at least had a small escape plan to get out. The problem however, was what I would do when it came to actually getting out of here.
“Fu*k,” I said.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I have an idea, but it’s a risky scheme. Are you in?” I asked.
“I think I’m in. We have to do it quick though. Knowing Raphael, he’s probably heading over here within the hour. I don’t think he’s going to dilly-dally on getting rid of us,” he admitted.

“Well then that’s even more reason to get the fu*k out of here,” I said. My breath was getting weak, I was staring to lose energy. It was going faster than usual because of the poison from the shackles, but I had to do what I had to do. I needed to get out, and if I was able to recover some energy on the way out, then I would. I noticed there were a couple of attack dogs in the distance. They weren’t vampire dogs, but they could do a lot to a weak vampire. I was going to use those to my advantage though. Just seeing those dogs made me lust for their blood. My eyes grew heavy with desire, and I knew that there was no way I would be able to be stopped.
“Grab my hair pin and force it into the lock,” I instructed. I had two, and I gave Donte one to help himself. He was losing strength, but not as quickly. He would be able to get his own ass out of there, while I tried to maneuver myself into the right position. I was going to get out, I just knew it.
I moved my head so I had a better chance of getting the hairpin. I struggled, but I was able to get the other one. Donte was already hard at work, and he had one of the locks undone. I had the first one done within a couple of minutes, and by the time I was on the second arm lock, Donte was free. He came over to help me out, and we were soon both free. I was happy about that, but I wondered if this would all be okay. I turned to Donte, who was smiling at me.
“Let’s get out of here,” he said.
I was wobbly, but I was able to run on all fours for some reason. Maybe that’s what happens when a vampire is unable to have blood. I felt animalistic in my desires, and in a way I felt like I was about to go crazy. The vampire that Cameron turned was there, but Donte took care of him. He grabbed one of the hairpins and stabbed the guy in the eye, causing him to bowl over in pain. Donte then kicked him in the head three times, causing him to lie there unconscious. He was going to wake up, but by then we would be long gone. I, however, wanted to take out the attack dogs. I prepared myself, and before the first dog could even get to goring me, I sank my teeth into him. I did it in a slow and steady fashion, my mind loving the way it felt. I loved the taste of blood, and I drank the dog dry. Donte watched me, making sure I only went after the dogs so that nobody else died. I ran over to the next two, taking them both out. I drank enough to be satiated, and Donte did the same. We were back to full strength, and I felt excited about that. It was nice, and I could just feel the power coursing through my veins. A little bit went a long way, and after we escaped, I turned to Donte.
