“Well, there were reports of a lot of vampires going to a place in Montana. All of this is just speculation, but I can tell that she is probably there. Her name is Gianna, and she’s one of the few people who have found a cure for the virus. She lives as a nomad, setting up shop where she can. Recently though, she was seen in this location by some people. Apparently, she hadn’t moved a whole lot, and some people think her house is abandoned. I think it’s worth checking out, plus I think there’s another one on the west coast as well. It’s a guy who owns a surf shack but also acts as a person who can cure vampires. He calls it a ‘medical remedy’, but I think it’s a cure. He seems fine, but I think we should take a chance and check out Gianna and the other one,” he said.
I nodded. He got up, and after a moment, Donte froze. I looked at Donte as if he was crazy, but he soon turned to me with a worried glance on his face.
“We have to get out of here. Now,” he said.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“The problem right now, is that there are three vampires in this library. They’re looking for you, but I don’t think they can smell you. We have to sneak out of here,” he said.
I nodded. We walked out. The librarian looked at us funny, but I just smiled. Soon after, three Goth kids came up to the counter to “check out some books.” They seemed funny looking, so I decided to ask Donte if he knew anything about it.
“Do you know those three?” I asked.
“Yes. They are part of Raphael’s clan. They’re probably going to come after us if we don’t get out of here,” he said.
We ran, but the vampires saw us. They started to chase us, my heart pounding with both the use of energy and worry. I didn’t want to worry about anything else right now besides trying to get out of there. We continued to run as fast as we could down the alleyway. It was worrisome, but we definitely knew we would be able to get out of here. After a bit, I looked behind us. So far, there was nothing, but I wasn’t sure if we threw them off our trail for good.
“Damn. Do you think we lost them?” I asked.
“Only for the moment. We have to get the hell out of here though. We need to find a car or something that can get us out of the town. We need something,” he said.
I went over to the side where Donte was, fright starting to come over me. Thankfully, there was a used car sales lot next to us, and the person looked bored. Donte came over and flashed a set of pearls in front of the man’s face.
“I need your help. Take these peals, cash them in, and let us have one of these cars,” Donte said.
The person looked at Donte as if he was crazy, but he nodded.
“Umm okay. As long as I get paid, I don’t care,” the man said. He looked like some little punk ass who didn’t give a damn about his job, and I was happy about that. He didn’t look like he cared too much about what happened, so I ran over to one of the cars and sat in it. Donte grabbed the keys for it and followed. When we got in, he started the car, the engine roaring with life. He drove out of there both of us happy and excited about the whole thing. We drove as fast as we could out of there, the vampires unsure of where we went. Thankfully, I picked a car that had tinted windows, so I didn’t have to worry about them seeing us. By the time the vampires noticed we weren’t there anymore, we were on our way out of town. I looked at Donte with worry on my face.
“Do you know where to go?” I asked.
“Yes. I memorized the directions, so we should be fine,” he replied.

I nodded, trying to keep myself calm. This was nerve-wracking though. I can’t believe we were being chased by vampires in a town like that. I moved over towards Donte and looked at him with a worried glance.
“Do you think we’re going to be followed?” I asked.
“At the moment, no. I think if we lose them, we should be fine until we get to the next location,” he said.
I nodded, listening to his words. I trusted Donte with what he said. He seemed to understand all of this, even though I didn’t really get what was going on. I thought we would be okay, but I didn’t know for sure. There had to be a silver lining in this right? I thought there was, I just didn’t know where to begin with it yet.
We started on the highway to Montana, both of us ready to get this whole thing over with. We had to go through Minnesota, I was nervous about that. I didn’t know where to begin with what was going to happen next, but I knew that no matter what, Donte would be with me. I trusted him, and I know that he trusted me as well. We would find a cure together, and nothing was going to stop us now.
