“There.  I put that in.  I also noticed that because you were both bitten by Raphael, you both had intense urges for blood.  I’m shocked at the levels of it.  I put a suppressor in as well, just in case if you were going to be the type of humans that would crave blood for no reason.  I don’t think either of you two would like that,” she explained.

“Thank you Gianna.  I already feel better,” I said.

“Good.  Now, I think it’s time for you two lovebirds to get on with your lives.  Here is a tiny bit of money that I’ve saved up in order to help the next person who would be willing to come see me.  I’m happy you two were also the ones who were able to stop this curse from spreading as well.  If you need anything, you know where to come,” she said.

I nodded.  We walked out of the house and into the forest.  Donte scooped me up into his arms and held me there for a moment, nuzzling my neck.

“I’m so happy you were able to turn back,” I said.

“Me?  I’m happy about you.  I didn’t know if I ever would change, but then when I met you I felt the desire and drive to do so come back to me.  You’re my inspiration Alice, and I love you for that,” he said.

I smiled at him, planting a kiss on his lips.  It was the best thing to feel at this moment, and I know we wouldn’t have to worry about anything anymore.  The time of being a vampire was gone, replaced with the lifetime we both had as humans.

We went back up to the car, and by some miracle Donte had it working.  We drove back, and thankfully nobody took over my house yet.  It was nice to have, especially considering the fact that we didn’t have a home otherwise.  We settled in there, just the two of us.

I was able to go back to my job as a legal secretary.  Donte was apparently really good with cars, so he became a mechanic.  It wasn’t what he went to school for, but since he went back into his human form, he discovered a knack for it.  I was happy about that, especially since I could tell he was happy with the result as well.  He started to feel better, and within a few weeks our lives were like any other couple.  We went on dates, had fun.  It was nice to finally have a life with the man I fell in love with.  My work picked up again, and soon I was able to afford a better house and other such things as well.  I felt happy to have the life that I’ve always wanted, and in a way I was also happy that things were going my way.  I never imagined I would be able to have an amazing guy like this in my life and have a steady relationship that didn’t feel dysfunctional, but I was able to really achieve a great relationship that felt amazing as well.  I looked at Donte every day, realizing the type of man I was with.  I was so happy I could die, but I didn’t want to do that.

Months passed, and the whole vampire drama was gone.  I didn’t hear a damn thing about the vampire community after a while, and it was nice.  I didn’t want to deal with that type of drama right now, and I was happy I didn’t have to.  Instead, I got to live my own life.  Donte did fill me in at first, and apparently the new leader was able to make sure things didn’t get way out of hand.  The community started to shape up, and all of Raphael’s men were taken away from the positions they had.  They were replaced with honest men who ran the community in an ethical manner, and I was happy that I didn’t have to worry about things going crazy again.  Still though, I did miss part of my past.  I missed the feelings of being a vampire sometimes, but at the same time I didn’t.  I didn’t have to worry about having to feed off of animals and such anymore.  I didn’t have to worry about the fact that I might die in the sunlight if I take one wrong step.  It was nice to think about, and I was happy that things were going better for us.  Then again, I didn’t want to worry about things like that anymore.  I had a life to live, and a great man to give a damn about.

We were sitting around one day.  It had been about a year since we got together, and things were amazing.  There was no drama, and I was able to have the best relationship I could.  Donte looked at me, and I saw a small smile creep up on his face.

“I have something for you,” he said.

“What is it?” I asked.  I didn’t know at all what he was going to give me.

Within moments, he was down on one knee and looking at me with a determined gaze.  No way.  He was not going to do it.

But he did.

“Alice, I love you.  I love you so much.  You’ve shown me the meaning of life, and I’m happy to have seen it.  I want you to be mine.  And not just for a little bit.  I want you to be mine forever.  So what do you say?” he asked.

I smiled at him, and at first I was a bit nervous.  I can’t believe he would ask me to marry him like this.  It was a bit nontraditional, so I didn’t know what to think.  But then again, I was happy to have that offered to me.

“Of course Donte!  I would love to marry you,” I replied.

He smiled, and before I could say anything, I pressed my lips to his in a passionate kiss.  We stayed like that for a bit, both of us loving the way our tongues seemed to mingle with the other in perfect harmony.  I felt like the luckiest girl in the world right now, and I could tell Donte was happy with the way things were going as well.

We continued to make out for a while, neither of us ready to move as of yet.  I was happy to have him, and he was happy to have me.  After a little bit, I felt his lips pull away from me, a smile being plastered on his face in its wake.

“I’m so happy to have you,” he said.

“Me too.  I thank my lucky stars every day when I imagine the idea of us being together.  We are, and I’ve been able to turn that dream into a reality.

“Same here.  And I’m happy about that,” he admitted.
