Chapter 7
It was still surreal after the five minutes of just sitting there in the blood of Raphael. I felt it soaking my clothes, but at this point I didn’t care. The only thing I was thinking about now was the fact that I would finally get to have freedom once again. Sure, it was going to be hard at first, but I did think it was for the best. I was happiest when I was a human, and now that I found the love of my life, I was only going to get happier.
I really did believe that. I was going to be happy with Donte, and things were going to be amazing for us. It might not always be sunshine and roses, but at least we would have each other. I realized with him I knew what love is, and it’s something that makes me feel really happy and makes me feel complete.
“Well, I think it’s time to claim our prize,” he said.
“Wait a minute on that Donte. I think we should let the other vampires know what happened. We need to be sensible about this. It could start a whole lot of tumult neither of us wants. We should contact them and explain the situation. Is there a group of vampires that wasn’t under Raphael’s’ control?” I asked.
He thought about it, and he nodded. “Yes. The guardians were the ones who were able to work independently from Raphael. Plus, I know they’re still around. We can contact them with telepathy, and with that we can figure out what in the world to do from there. We can decide how the hell we’re going to rebuild things. I think that’s smart though, to put someone in place before we turn back,” he said.
I agreed with that. There was something about me changing back while leaving the rest of the vampire world in shambles that didn’t resonate well with me. We contacted them, and they were able to help quell any revolutions. We explained to them what happened, and instead of being mad, they actually thanked us for the service we rendered. They planned to send me a medal in the mail or something like that. Sweet, a medal from a bunch of magical creatures. Exactly what I wanted.
I helped fill them in on the details, and they’re already putting a temporary person in power. It was some guy who was apparently really nice, and immediately the people responded in a somewhat positive manner. As long as it was someone better than Raphael, I could sleep easy. I hoped that it was, for it would make things a whole hell of a lot easier for all of us if that was the case.
Still, I did wonder what was going to happen to all of them. I didn’t know a whole lot about the vampire world besides the part Donte showed me, but I did think it was interesting. I did think that it would be something to check out every once in a while, and I would love to just see what in the world things would be like now since everything that happened.
We finished all of that, and after we finished the last of the calls out to people, I sighed. I wonder what was going to happen next to us, but I would just have to wait and see. Things were going to be better, and we would finally get to have the life we wanted. This was the thing we both needed, and we would finally get everything we asked for.
We went over to the house again, and standing in front of it was Gianna. She wasn’t a kid anymore, rather she was in her real form. She looked like an older woman again, which was shocking to me. I was a bit perplexed at first, but she smiled.
“I guess you didn’t see this coming did you?” she asked.
“Not at all, but I like it. The look suits you in a way,” I replied.
“Are you saying I’m old?” she said.
I blushed as I realized what I did. Of course, I knew that she wasn’t too mad about that. She came over and smiled at me, hugging me tightly.
“Thank you for doing that. Both of you. You saved my life, and you saved many people’s lives. Raphael has been out to destroy me for a long time. I’ve secretly helped many other vampires along with the colleagues that I have hanging around. They’re out there, and they want to help others. I’m just glad I finally got to use my power to help a bunch of deserving people better their lives. It’s one of those things that makes me happy to be alive,” she stated.
I felt warm and fuzzy when I heard those words. I never thought I would make a person like this beam with happiness. Hell, I never thought I would make anyone even remotely happy. I wasn’t the type who was mushy gushy like that. Instead though, I did feel something different when I was around them. I felt something amazing that made me excited as well. I was happy with it, and it was just the beginning of the better life that we were about to have.
“We were happy to help. I didn’t know Raphael was bothering you,” I replied.
“He was. He was being a little sh*t over the last few years. I’ve wanted to talk to him, but every time I felt like he was just trying to trap me. And each time he was. So I was trying to find the perfect person to take him out, the one person who would be able to stop him. I didn’t realize they were right in front of my face the entire time. Thank you for helping me. I appreciate that,” she said.

“Not a problem. We’re happy to at least help out a little bit. I’m glad we got that man out of your life,” I replied.
“Thank you. You have helped countless other people as well. I’m sure they are going to wonder who their savior was. And I will tell them it was you. I hope they come and find you so they can thank you as well.”
I nodded. “Thanks. So is it time yet?” I asked. I didn’t want to rush the woman, but damn I was ready to change things up. I was ready to have my old life back. I didn’t want to be a vampire anymore.
The woman nodded, moving herself in through the doorway. “Come on in. I have everything ready for the both of you,” she said.
Donte and I walked in, the both of us holding hands and looking at each other with excitement plastered on our faces. It was time to change things for the better, and I was ready to live again as a human. It was going to be fun, and he was going to have fun with this as well. When we walked in, Gianna gestured us to the couch. We sat there, watching her as she prepared the serum in two syringes. I felt a bit nervous, but Donte held my hand as she came over. She placed the syringes by my neck and squeezed the trigger. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would, but then again I was anticipating a whole lot more. Within moments though, I started to feel the change. I started to feel the difference in my body as soon as she injected it into me. I felt my body become sort of tingly, and I didn’t feel the urge to have any blood anymore. I didn’t feel as strong, but I actually felt like I had a better control over myself. After a moment, the same thing happened to Donte. He looked at me, and soon we were looking at each other as humans.
