It felt like the Earth shook when Paula blasted into the precinct demanding to see Jackson. She barked commands and made sure she wasn’t treated like some average citizen. She rambled off his rights and once she saw the swelling around his face, she went full-on ballistic. She looked like a crazy woman spouting various court cases and civil rights codes that they were in violation of while they left Jackson in a holding cell.
It wasn’t long before her wishes were granted and a cop went to let Jackson out of his cell. He unlocked the cuffs and let him go under Paula’s custody. Furious wasn’t the word to describe what she felt as she stormed out of the precinct with Jackson following closely behind her like a lost puppy. He knew he was in deep with her. He didn’t want to go into detail but that wasn’t on Paula’s itinerary.
Paula sat in the car waiting for an explanation before she started the ignition. When Jackson didn’t open up right away, she unleashed a fury of curses and questions on him that he could barely understand. “Just tell me what the fu*k happened tonight? The police told me one thing, but I know that’s not true because we had a fu*king deal! I know we had a fu*king deal because we had s*x last night. You JUST got out of jail yesterday morning! So, how is it that you managed to get yourself into a fu*ked up situation that could possibly undo everything I worked so god damn hard to out together for you?”
“This all had to be a misunderstanding,” Jackson lied. “There was no way that I was involved in anything that they were talking about. I went to see a friend of mine who might have had a job opening at one of his clubs. When I came out, four cops tackled me and beat me to a pulp. I don’t know what they think I did but I didn’t do it!”
“So, you didn’t steal a BMW and drive it to Demetri’s club? You didn’t steal that car that they were tailing you in the entire time? You’re telling me that this same Demetri guy, who threatened my fu*king life, didn’t have you pull a job with that nitwit idiot friend of yours, who was sitting in a cell on the other side of the precinct by the way, tonight? Is that what you’re fu*king telling me?” Paula screamed out in frustration. If there was one thing she hated, it was being lied to.

“So if you know what fu*king happened, why the fu*k are you asking me?” Jackson yelled to match her energy.
“Because I trust you! I trust you to tell me the fu*king truth when I ask you for it! I stand up for you constantly! I look out for you and your future just because of how you did it for me! Fu*k being your woman! I do this sh*t as a friend to you and you can’t even tell me the fu*king truth. I can’t stand you. I can’t stand the sight of you!” Paula’s tears flooded her cheeks as her anger made her turn a deep shade of red.
“Paula, just listen,” Jackson pleaded with her.
“No just go! Get the fu*k out of my car and get the fu*k out of my life. I promised that I wouldn’t let you do this to me anymore. You build me up just to let me down. You’ve been lying to me all day when all you could have said was I have something to do. I would have understood. I may not have liked it, but I would have understood. You have unfinished business to handle, but now you handle it without me. We’re done. Get out of my car. Get yourself another attorney. Don’t you dare think about trying to find one at my firm either!”
“But Paula, if you just let me…” Jackson tried one more time to explain his actions but she had heard and done enough for him. She told him to leave and so he left.
