“Wait, did he try to treat you like property or something like that?” Celia asked, a little confused.
“Let’s just say that he got to where he is by stepping on a whole lot of people’s toes and he was not about to hesitate when it came to stepping on mine.”
Celia looked at Eliza for a long time.

“If he is such a big deal, then how come I don’t know him or know of him?” she asked.
“I’ve got the best answer for that. Google him then you’ll know,” Eliza said as she walked off to serve another customer. She was not so stoked when it came to talking about Allan. He was the one piece of her past that she wished she could erase. Especially since she met him when she was so young. There was nothing she wanted more than to just stay away from him. And like she had told him, she was not hiding from him. All she was doing was sticking it to him and she was happy doing it. Knowing that she was playing right in his court and he couldn’t have her. Not even in his wildest dream.
After serving her last customer, she walked out of the bar and made her way to the parking lot. She climbed into her jeep and strapped herself in before she took a long deep breath. She would have loved to think that Allan was in town for something else and not her. Because at the time all she wanted to do was to focus on her new job at Wave Tide. And Celia was wrong too. She might have joined Wave Tide just because that was the surfing company Justin was associated with but at the same time, she was there because she loved being a lifeguard. She loved saving lives. Or just making sure everyone was safe. That was a better life than being Allan’s arm candy any day. She took another long deep breath and started the ignition. She had just pulled out of the parking lot when she started wondering whether it was a possibility that Allan would be dumb enough to follow her. He had gone the extra mile to locate her in a whole different state.
“How did he find me anyway?” she wondered. She knew that Allan was not past hiring a private investigator to do his bidding. Matter of fact, he had his own personal PI at his very beck and call. She shook her head as she drove down the street. But with all these thoughts running through her mind, she did not want to go home just yet. Especially since there was a strong possibility that Allan might be following close by. She drove to the beach and pulled up alongside another car. She loved the fact that there was always something happening at the beach. It was like going from one party to the next. Working in a bar and now being at the beach where there seemed to be a party that had just started even though it was eleven in the evening.
“You have work tomorrow. You need to go home,” a voice in her head said to her but she was still walking towards the party. She was not going to let the fact that Allan had showed up out of nowhere ruin the fact that she had otherwise had the most perfect day.
