She was usually so well put together.

But he liked it when he got her a bit messy.

He wondered what was for dessert.

He pulled on his briefs and walked out of the bedroom.

Leigh turned around and looked disappointed.

“Oh. You’re dressing.”

Harrison laughed.

“What’s for dessert?” he asked.

Leigh grinned.

“I think you’ll like what I have in mind.”

Dinner was what Harrison had always dreamed of. Leigh, relaxed and loved, sitting by him, laughing as she narrated things that had happened at work.

Soon enough, he realized that there were problems at work that Leigh hadn’t told him about. But he let it go. He wouldn’t ruin that golden evening with such talk.

“You know, I’ll have to tell Emily she was right.”

Harrison looked up, a bit alarmed. He knew that women talked to their best friends about everything, and Emily and Leigh were closer than anybody he had ever known.

Still, he didn’t think he wanted them talking about his di*k measurements.

Did women talk about that?

“What was she right about?”

Leigh grinned.

“You do have a beautiful body. Do you know, she said she would’ve been more than willing to give you a good try if you hadn’t always been stuck on me? She said you’ve always been stuck on me, but I’ve just been oblivious.”

Harrison grinned.

“I plead the fifth,” he told her, making her laugh.

“Thank you,” said Leigh, softly, taking him by surprise.

Harrison raised an eyebrow.

“It has been the most perfect evening. I’ve needed this. I know this wasn’t what you planned, and you like things to go as you plan…”

Harrison shrugged.

“I’m flexible when your plans are this great,” he told her, making her grin.

But his phone rang, and he stepped outside to take the call, signaling that it would just take a minute.

Leigh let the smile slip when he was out of sight.

That had been incredible. But it had also been more than she had bargained for – way more.

She had wanted pleasure, and a release from the tension. She had, instead, gotten far more tension because now she was worried about everything she had felt.

Harrison had known things about her body that she hadn’t known. He had been led by instinct as if his very purpose was to pleasure her, make her feel things that made her forget everything except him.

She had arranged that evening because she wanted to be the one in control, and she didn’t feel like she was in control at that moment.

She felt like she was being swept along on a current, as if she had no choice.

Harrison came back to the kitchen and she put her smiling mask on immediately. She would think about all of it later. He wouldn’t spend the night with her, of course. So she would have lots of time to think, and brood, and worry.

Another sleepless night – exactly what she needed to be at the top of her game. She would have to be extra careful not to let Slimy Willie pull anything and blame her for it.

“Anna,” said Harrison, as an explanation.

Leigh smiled and nodded, serving him more food.

“Oh, Anna reminded me that this Sunday is a family dinner. You’ll be there, won’t you? I might’ve forgotten if Anna hadn’t reminded me.”

Leigh felt her tummy roll over a bit.

A family dinner – sit with Harrison, Mom and Dad at the same table, and pretend that nothing had happened.

Oh, that couldn’t work. She couldn’t do it.

“I’ll have to cancel, I think. I have tons of work to catch up on, and Willie seems to really want to mess with me. You know, I have no idea what I did to the idiot to make him hate me so much. I wish he’d find somebody else to pick on.”

Harrison raised an eyebrow at her clumsy attempt to change the subject. So she didn’t want to talk about her parents, and what they were going to have to be told.

Well, there would be time. He could wait until she was ready, of course.

But he didn’t mean this to be a fling. He meant it to last.

He had wanted to wait until he was sure Leigh was ready for more because he meant it to last.

But it was far newer to Leigh than it was to him.

He could be patient.
