“Do you have to go? There are multiple rooms and I promise to be a gentleman.” George looked desperate to not be alone. It had to be hard to be rich and lonely. A man like him could buy anything except a wife or girlfriend he loved to travel with. Patricia cared about him but wasn’t ready for that level of commitment. Leaving her life behind to be with her billionaire might happen one day but she was in no rush to do that just yet. The fear of rejection still hanging over this great moment like a ghost haunting her every step.

“Is that why you wanted me at the penthouse before your trip, George? To be a gentleman?” Patricia smiled and leaned in close. She could barely take him seriously as he tried to swallow all that sushi. Plus, she had to focus on not wrinkling her nose over that fish smell.

“No,” George confessed. “But I didn’t want to push you into it.” The blush returning to his face was too cute. Most men would be fighting it off but he tried to act like it wasn’t happening. There was something beautiful and vulnerable about a man not acting macho all the time. He wanted her to feel happy and safe most of all which was an added source of comfort.

Patricia kissed him on both cheeks. There was no doubt he was the man meant to be in her life. The men in her past weren’t like George. Though they still needed time to ensure this was truly long term. But her heart was ready to flutter from her chest into his hands. She wondered if giving in a little might not be such a bad idea. George was trustworthy enough to respect any restrictions she had if that was made possible.“How long will you be gone?”

“Two months at least. I wanted to tell you but the change was last minute. I thought I had more time before an extended overseas trip.” George sighed. There was no question he was disappointed by the sudden need to leave. Their time together was cut short for a separation that would last months. “I don’t have a good excuse to delay and using our relationship would only give the idea that a romance was a hindrance to my work.”

“Can’t play hooky on this one?” Patricia knew the answer before her question slipped out. He was part of a dynasty, a legacy. Acting like the fool was the perfect ingredient to losing business or getting disinherited. Either way George would never put himself in that situation.

“No, I have to be professional. I sometimes envy the rich spoiled adults who just spend their time selling brands and hanging out on yachts.” George popped in another sushi roll. “if I clean my teeth will you kiss me goodnight?” he suddenly changed the direction of conversation. Proving her attempt to hide her discomfort over the smell hadn’t worked like she hoped. A grin on his face showed that all was forgiven either way.

“Go freshen up and find out,” Patricia winked. She was feeling relaxed after such a fun evening, even with all the weird things that happened. Being at a place where George resided opened a new side of her. She wanted to see what else could happen tonight.

George grinned and dashed to the bathroom. His gusto had her burst into a fit of giggles. They were truly acting like teenage lovers left in the house without their parents. Whatever happened next she was ready to embrace it. They deserved to enjoy their time together before George left for his extended trip. Hopefully, when he returned no drastic changes would have taken place.
