Chapter 6
Chantal was off work, so she texted Michael and asked him to call her whenever he was free. They had been talking over the phone and texts for two weeks now and things were going wonderfully. They were starting to feel like they had known each other for years rather than just a couple of weeks. Both of them were equally emotionally invested in this situation, with each of them eager to know one another, eager to learn as much as they could about the other person.
They had talked about so many different things. Chantal was surprised that he had not gotten bored of him yet. She had the tendency to rant a lot but he always seemed to enjoy her rants, always seemed to agree with all of the things that she seemed to be ranting about. He seemed to enjoy listening to her just as much as she enjoyed listening to him and this was something Chantal had not expected at all. Usually, she was the one that was too invested in a friendship, the other person always seemed to think that she got too clingy too fast. Michael never thought this way. On the contrary, he would always make her feel important. He would always make her feel like she was not getting in his way by asking for his attention. Indeed, he seemed to really enjoy the fact that she craved his attention so much. He truly seemed flattered whenever she asked him to pay attention to her, and always enjoyed giving her the attention that she was asking for. It was a lovely experience to feel so loved by someone, even though she had only first talked to him a couple of weeks ago.
Chantal was starting to feel like this was too good to be true. After all, she had just met this man, it wasn’t normal for her to be feeling so attached so quickly, and it was even less likely for him to want to reciprocate these feelings. What did this mean? She did not know. She was surprised to realize that she did not care. She craved this feeling of acceptance, this feeling of being enough.
Michael had never asked her to modify her behavior. When she was loud, he enjoyed it. When she was quiet, he would fill in the silence and enjoy himself like that. Things were never awkward between them, even though they were talking over four to five hours on the phone every day, and the rest of the time they were talking over text. The only time when they wouldn’t talk was when Chantal was busy with a client or waiting tables, or when Michael had to deal with some aspect of his business.
He was often busier than Chantal which was to be expected considering the level that he worked at. Chantal missed him during those times when he was not around. She felt like she was not doing something that she was supposed to be doing. She felt like she was missing out on an experience that she had been craving for so long without even knowing what it was that she had been craving.
Michael had told her in detail about his business. He owned several hundred restaurants across the world, three different chains in total. This was separate from the fast food stalls that his company still operated in his home town of New York. The lemonade that he had started making from such a young age was sold at pretty much every major supermarket across America. Additionally, he had his real estate. He was rather good at predicting whether the markets were profitable to invest in or not, and was somehow always able to make an investment when the time was right. He owed this to his almost religious studying of the rise and fall of the markets. He said that if one understood the history of a market, there was no reason that one would not be able to predict its future.
He was an excellent businessman, and Chantal found this extremely attractive. She found pretty much every single aspect of him attractive, to be honest. She had never really felt this attracted to a man in her life, and this surprised her. She had never even met Michael, let alone spent any actual time with him. And yet, here she was, so eager to meet him, so eager to be talking to him pretty much every free minute that she had.

It was a lovely experience and she didn’t want it to stop. After about a week of talking, Michael and Chantal decided to exchange pictures. They spoke so much that it seemed odd that they had not actually seen each other yet.
When Michael sent her his picture, she was amazed. He was a fine, fine looking man, one of the most good looking men she had ever seen in her life. His skin was a wonderful dark chocolate brown, a shade darker than her own skin. It was beautiful skin, flawless in every way. He seemed to know how to take care of his body and she found this incredibly attractive about him. He also had a beard, but not the messy kind that Chantal utterly despised. No, his beard was neat and trimmed and very sexy indeed. She wondered how much effort he put into looking this good. It couldn’t have simply been his genes, no one was that good looking just naturally. No, he must have been a very precise and calculated man to have made himself look good so regularly.
His jaw was magnificent. It was well shaped and solid, the kind of jaw that you would expect a boxer to have. She wasn’t surprised when he told her that he had done a lot of boxing in his college years, although after college he had started focusing on his business so much that he had become unable to properly pursue this passion of his. He was not bitter about it, he just wished that he had a little more time to do the things that he wanted to do. He wanted to have a little more time to pursue his passions as well as his interests outside of his business.
He was incredibly well dressed as well. Chantal gleaned this from the pictures he had sent her. He was wearing an incredible three piece suit, the kind of suit that would have taken thousands of dollars to sew. He pulled it off, and this was the real talent. Anybody can simply wear a suit, you need to know how to properly pull it off in order to get all that you can possibly get from it. He wore it like he had been wearing suits all his life. Chantal was incredibly attracted to men that knew how to dress, she found that she could barely contain herself when Michael sent this picture to her.
The long and short of it was that she was unbelievably attracted to this man. She was so attracted to him that she did not know what she could possibly do about it. She wanted to go out with him, but there were two problems with this. The first problem was that he was a client. One was never supposed to date a client. It was not against the rules per se but it was certainly frowned upon, and if her boss did not like it enough he might have her suspended or put on probation. She would not be paid for the time during which she was put on probation and she could not afford to lose her job. Even the loss of a single paycheck might end up setting her back a great deal.
