She was pleased with herself and she was pleased with him. He had given her everything she had wanted and she had been given everything she needed to forget the world. When he told her that he needed to get back to his own hotel room because there was plenty of work left for him to get done, she didn’t think it was strange at all.

She was alive and awake for the time being, gliding around the room with the kind of radiant exuberance having been laid provided everyone. She flitted about her tasks to finish up the box she had nearly completed. When she was done, she dropped down on the bed and woke up a few hours later to her alarm and that was when she realized there was something wrong. In fact, there was something seriously wrong with her.

Standing up and looking in the mirror, she had lost the glow she had been given in the fading hours of them being together. It was still very dark outside and she had only experienced three hours of sleep, but that definitely wasn’t causing what was the matter with her. She stared at her face in the mirror and she couldn’t tell anything immediately.

Walking into the bathroom, she flipped on the light and started her shower, wondering if maybe she had just had too much to drink. No, that definitely wasn’t the case. She definitely wasn’t a drunk, but she had been through college recently and everyone had a drink at dinner, parties, events, or one of the other myriad of functions she would attend. She had a high tolerance. But as she finished off a bottle of water that she’d bought at the airport, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was having the feeling.
