“I think you can shift back now,” she told him. “You need to shower and wash off the blood.”

Cooper shifted, and she helped him into the bathroom. He sat on the toilet and waited while she turned the shower on. “Annie?”

“Hmm?”
“I’m in love with you.”

Annie froze. She turned slowly and looked back at him while the water sloshed over her hand. When it heated up, she jerked her hand out with a yelp. He knelt beside her and took her hand in his.

With a goofy grin on his face, he said, “Annie, did you hear me?”
She matched his grin. “Of course I heard you. Why do you think I burned my hand?”

He glanced down at it. “I think it’ll be okay. Do you have an answer for me?”

“I think I’m in love with you too,” Annie answered.

“Think?”

“Well, I’m still mad at you, but the battle you just fought in my honor has gone a long way towards making up for that.” Annie rose, pulling him with her. “I’d like to take a shower with you. I’ll wash your wounds, and you can rid me of the rest of my anger.” She wiggled her eyebrows at him.

“I like that idea, my love,” Cooper said as his mouth came down on hers.

Annie and Cooper had decided to fly home rather than stay in Brazil. After speaking with several shifters in the area, Cooper had deemed it too dangerous there for their child. Several of the shifters were against cross species, but the werewolves in the area were adamantly against it. They had been accused more than a few times of cross species disappearances, although nothing had ever been proved. Most cross species shifters did not stay in Brazil, he had been told more than once.

William was born covered in beautiful tan fur much like his father’s, but wings, much like his mother’s, had sprouted from his back a week after his birth. He looked like a griffin, strong, beautiful, and adorable. Humans and shifters alike in the US fell in love with him; he was the first of his kind, so there was much media coverage at first. But it died down quickly, and the trio was able to live normal lives.

Cooper accepted a position teaching at a university, and Annie had decided to stay at home until William was ready for school. They lived near Leah and Mark, and William became Chloe’s best friend and would often ride on his back while he flew around the backyard.

Life was perfect.

The end.
