As soon as she got home, she dug through the dresser, pulling out the thin package she had received in the mail not three days ago. She still hadn’t tried it on yet, nervous because she rarely purchased clothes online. Opening it, she pulled out the lump of thin, black material and held it over her body in the mirror. The black cocktail dress stopped at her mid-thigh, the halter style neckline scooping to show just enough cleavage. She was excited and nervous for Luke to see her in something like this. She rarely dressed up and she knew that Luke knew that as well. She just hoped that he understood what a big deal this was for her to be doing this for him. Laying the dress out on her bed, she stripped for a shower, blushing when she remembered what she and Luke had done in there. She took a long shower, using her favorite shampoo and body wash combo, guaranteeing that she would smell like vanilla. When she was done, she dried off, wrapping the towel around her waist, and decided to tackle her hair next. She had decided to wear it like she did for their first date, using plenty of mousse to craft sleek, manicured curls.

Afterwards, she sat at her vanity and dug out her single tube of nail polish, deciding that if she was going to go all out, then she was going to go all out. The color was a beautiful rich, glossy red that she always thought accentuated her dark hair and pale complexion. She rarely wore it though because her job required her to be very hands on and usually ruined her nails anyway. Once her nails were dry, she applied a light coat of makeup, just enough to enhance her natural features.

Checking the time and realizing it was almost already four, she hurried to the kitchen to start dinner. She cooked wrapped in her towel, knowing that if she put on her dress she’d spill sauce all over it. So ever mindful of her freshly painted nails, Rebecca cooked a simple roasted chicken breast, steamed some green beans with a bit of garlic and salt, and put some store bought rolls into the oven to warm. By the time the food was ready and plated, she had just enough time to slip into her dress before Luke was supposed to arrive. She glanced at the mirror to check her final appearance and was impressed by how well the dress fit her. It skimmed her waist, hugged her curves, and made her neck look long and lovely. There was a short knock on the door and she hurried to slip into a pair of black flats before hurrying off to answer it. She could see Luke’s breath catch as she opened the door, his eyes widening comically. “Rebecca,” he said her name like a prayer and slowly stepped inside. His eyes dragged from her feet to her head, taking in every inch of her. “I knew you were going to do something like this. I knew the moment you asked.” He breathed. “Well,” she smirked and spun around, the curls of her hair flipping tantalizingly as she walked into the kitchen. “You could always leave, it’s not too late. ”She heard him following her and her smirk grew. “It was too late the moment you opened the door.” He said. “The food is on the table.” She said flippantly, loving the way his eyes couldn’t stop roaming her body. “I’m really under dressed.” He said, looking down at his jeans and flannel shirt. He groaned when he caught sight of the food. “And I thought you said you couldn’t cook. This looks amazing, Rebecca.” “Thank you.” She said and motioned for him to sit. “And you’re not under dressed. I just wanted to do something special and dress up for you.”

They dug into their food, eating in companionable silence. When they were done she placed they plates in the sink and asked him if he wanted to join her in her bedroom. “There isn’t a scenario that exists where I would say no.” He said and she took his hand, intertwining their fingers as she pulled him to her room.

When Rebecca finally caught her breath, she asked, “So are vampires real too? ”A laugh burst its way out of Luke’s throat. “What?” “Well, ever since I found out about what you could do I wanted to know.” She explained.
