He fed her again, and this time, the gesture was blatantly sensual. She felt it shudder through her body. Textures, tastes, the thrill – all of it blended, making it one of the most potent experiences of her life.
She hummed deep in her throat, unable to stop herself, and it took an effort to make herself open her eyes again.
“I’ve never met a woman who lets herself enjoy pleasure as much as you do, Diana.”
“Oh.”
“That’s a compliment. It’s a wonderful compliment. Here, have some more.”
“You haven’t had any yet.”
“I prefer feeding you. I like watching you eat.”
And so he fed her, the entire thing, every bite more sensual than the last, until Diana didn’t know what she was feeling. She didn’t think she could move, and it wasn’t because she was too full. It was because of what George was doing to her, and he hadn’t even touched her.
She’d never felt like that in her life.
She’d never…
“I…”
“You’re a beautiful woman. You’re interesting. I’m glad you were here this weekend.”
Diana sighed as he sat back, after the last morsel was finished, and just looked at her. She didn’t think she’d ever get used to being looked at like that.
But she was beginning to realize that she liked it. It was as if only she existed in the entire universe. As if nothing else mattered.
It was intoxicating to be treated like that.
“I wish I could just stay here,” she said softly. She was a little surprised that she’d said the words out loud. She hadn’t meant to. But she wouldn’t take them back.
“There are more places to see – more beautiful places to see, more things to sample. When do you need to get back to San Francisco?”
“Oh… Well, I need to get back tonight, I guess.”
She could no longer remember why. It would be Sunday. If he asked her to stay, she would.
“That’s a pity. I would have loved to spend the night with you.”
“Oh!”
The little sound that escaped her was shocked but eager.
She wanted to.
She’d never been one to sleep around. A couple of men she’d thought would make great boyfriends had dumped her because she wouldn’t sleep with them right off the bat. She believed in getting to know people, finding out what made them happy, what made them laugh, where they came from…
She knew nothing about all of that about this man, and she wanted to jump into bed with him.
She wanted to have his hands on her, wanted to feel those lips on her, wanted him to look at her as he undressed her and made her quiver for him. She’d never met a man who made her feel like this. She’d never…
“Don’t worry, Diana. I’m not pressuring you. I don’t do that.”
“Oh,” said Diana again, and she hoped that the disappointment was not evident.
He chuckled.
“I have the plane cleared for takeoff in two hours. We should get going.”
“I guess so,” said Diana, and she let herself watch him as he paid, and finally smiled at her.
“Come on.”
She nodded, waved goodbye to Jeff, and let him take her hand as they walked out. In the elevator, the tension mounted again. He was so potent. He radiated masculinity.
“You look afraid. I won’t hurt you.”
“I… I don’t think you would.”
The elevator doors opened and other people got in. She wasn’t sure if she was relieved or disappointed. But soon they were in the car, and it felt as if there simply wasn’t enough room in there for him and anybody else.
She was relieved, this time, when he got a call. With an apologetic smile, he took it, and she sat back and tried to gather her wits.
So, she’d gone on a date with George Hemsworth.
Alex was going to scream when she heard all the details. She’d probably been looking up the man and would want every single detail when they met for lunch on Sunday – tomorrow. Well, she’d get plenty of details.
Of course, it was a one-time thing. George and Diana didn’t move in the same circles, not by any stretch of imagination. It had been a fairytale weekend. Most fairytales included moments of terror and humiliation, didn’t they? Well, she’d had those, too.
But it would soon strike midnight, and it would be over. They’d had back home, and then he would be out of her life. That was fine. That was how it would be.
“Penny for your thoughts.”
“Oh! Sorry. I was just letting my mind wander a bit.”
“Tell me.”
“Oh, well… I was thinking of my best friend. Alex – she’s amazing. She wanted me to spend Saturday with her, she’d forgotten about the trip. But when I told her, she told me that I should go back with a story to tell, and for once I guess I managed that. She has a far more interesting life than I do. I love listening to her stories.”
“What are you going to tell her?”
“Oh… Well, I’ll tell her about how I made a complete fool of myself, she won’t be surprised. And I’ll tell her about the excellent dessert.”

“I think we can manage something more to tell her.”
Her eyes widened again.
“It’s so easy to shock you,” said George with a chuckle, and Diana relaxed. She couldn’t very well tell him that she was so on her guard because she didn’t know what she was feeling, could she?
Diana was glad when they pulled up in front of the hotel.
She needed a little space, room to think.
