Chris poured himself a drink after Robyn left. That had gone from zero to a hundred real quick and he just had no time to process. Sometimes life came at you real fast. He startled as he heard the door open and leaned back to see who it was, although only one other person had a key anyway. Cleo.

“Yo,” he said to let her know where she was.

“Hey. What’s wrong?”

“You’re a little scary Cleo. Has anyone ever told you that?”

“Constantly. So what’s wrong?”

“Nothing. Robyn was here.”

“Oh? Again?”

“Yeah. She wanted to know something.”

“Something about what? Your 401-K?”

“Ha ha. You know you should really try to get to know her before foisting labels on her.”

“You like her.”

“Of course I like her. I asked her to marry me didn’t I?”

“No. I mean you like her.”

Chris shrugged, “I do like her but it’s not like-“ he cut himself off.

“Not like Nicole?”

Chris turned away and didn’t answer.

Cleo sighed, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say her name like that.”

“No,” Chris said not turning back to her, “it’s fine. It’s been eleven years, I’m over it.”

“Uh huh. Okay well I got those discs you wanted and I, unlike you, have a life, so I need to go or I’ll be late for my date.”

“Yeah thanks. Goodnight Cleo.”

“Nighty night Chris. Sweet dreams.”
