They made it up to the bar eventually and Robyn found herself standing in front of Adam with Adam’s arms on either side of her. Adam leaned forward to talk to the bartender and Robyn found herself captured between the bar and Adam’s body. She held her breath, feeling uncomfortable with the unaccustomed closeness. It hit home that she was alone, in some shady club, with her so called friend MIA and the only thing standing between her and the wild things out there being some Goth guy she met in an alley not twenty minutes ago. It was reminiscent of the first ten minutes of a low budget horror movie. Hmm, maybe she could turn this into one…
The bartender set something electric green in a shot glass down before her and she took it and emptied it in one huge gulp. The alcohol burned the roof of her mouth and made her throat feel raw, but when the glass was filled again she downed it without hesitation.
She wondered what was in the drinks she just had, because she could already feel the alcohol getting to her head, loosening her limbs and inhibitions. She tilted her head back against Adam’s shoulder to look at him, curling one hand up to grab the back of Adam’s neck. Adam bent down and kissed her, licking his way into Robyn’s open mouth to taste the alcohol still burning on her tongue.
No.
She could feel the thought in her head, echoing as if in a large empty room, but she couldn’t make her lips form the word. Adam pulled her flush against him, her body moving bonelessly without her permission.
What did you give me?
Flashed across her subconscious but her mouth was still checked out, hanging slightly open with a bit of drool trailing out from the side of her lip and rolling languidly down her chin.
Help.
“Robyn! There you are,” Pamela’s voice penetrated the polar vortex of panic she was locked in as her friend grabbed her arm and pulled her away from Adam. A wave of pure relief suffused her and she wanted to cling desperately to Pam’s tall frame but she was already turning with a smile toward Adam.
“Hey Adam, how you doing? I didn’t know you knew Robyn,” she said and Robyn clung harder to her friend, wanting to ask her to get her out of there but lacking the words.
“Ya, no. We just met. We were just getting to know each other better.”
Pamela peered closely at Robyn when she didn’t say anything to this. It was uncharacteristic and finally Pamela was paying attention.
“You okay babe?” she whispered coming close to her side.
No.
Robyn thought at her but her mouth was still off somewhere taking a break. Pamela frowned and pulled Robyn away with her, leaving Adam standing there with a look of thunder on his face. Pamela dragged her to the ladies and splashed her face with water.
“Did you let that creep buy you a drink Robz?” she asked as she wiped Robyn’s face down, “How much of an idiot are you anyway? Sheesh. What are you doing here? You were supposed to text me.”
Robyn would have liked to answer all Pam’s questions but she had her hands full just trying not to drool.
“Fu*k Robz. What am I going to do with you?”
That was the question wasn’t it?

Robyn was scouring the ads on craigslist looking for cheaper accommodations, maybe a roommate when she came across the ad. Some guy looking for wife. Sort of marriage of convenience if she was reading between the lines. He couldn’t leave the house…Robyn felt a pang of sympathy at that, trying to imagine not being able to go anywhere.
“That would make filming really difficult,” she murmured to herself. She was currently hiding out from her current landlord by squatting on Pam’s couch. She had to be out soon though because her boyfriend was coming back from his tour and he didn’t like her much.
She shrugged her shoulders and answered the ad.

Cleo let herself in with her key, clutching a bunch of files.
“Morning Cleo, what you got there?” Chris asked stepping out from the kitchen with a steaming cup of coffee in his hand.
“The info you asked for on those girls that answered your ad,, Cleo said thrusting them at him, “And good morning.”
Cleo was not in support of his latest project. She was pretty sure it would lead to him being murdered in his bed but Chris ignored her. This was the most exciting his life had gotten since he stopped going out; he wasn’t ready to let it go.
“You’ve read through them?” he asked.
Cleo shrugged. Of course she had. It was practically her job.
“Okay, so which one did you disapprove of least?” he asked.
Cleo huffed, “They all gold diggers I don’t doubt, but the one who just wants a roof over her head seems like she’d be the easiest to get rid of once she’s back on her feet.”

Chris laughed, “Don’t you think that kind of defeats the purpose of a wife?”Cleo sighed, “I don’t know what’s gotten into you Chris, but whatever it is, I really don’t think it’ll last. So trust me on this, you’ll be glad sooner or later, that you can get rid of her. I already got Harris on the pre-nup.”
“That’s my girl. And have you gotten in touch with any of these females?”
“Nope. Your advert. Your call,” Cleo said.
Chris sighed, taking the files with him as he went to the patio to drink his coffee. He might as well get started. He flipped on his iPad and Same ‘Ol Mistakes blared from the speakers. He was really liking the new Rihanna album. It was music he didn’t know he needed in his life. He settled the cup of coffee onto a coaster as Rihanna segued neatly into Prince.
“Right. Let’s see if I can find the most beautiful girl in the world on this list,” he said flopping into the chair and putting his legs up on the pouf.
