“Don’t worry, baby,” Chris said, batting his eyelashes flirtatiously. “I’ll protect you. If you get scared you can hide behind me,” he was whispering in Robyn’ ear now, nosing just above her ear while his lips just barely brushed her skin, and even though Robyn knew he was only joking, she just couldn’t help thinking… But what if? Robyn allowed herself a moment in that position before she shoved Chris away with a laugh.
“I bet you say that to all the girls!” Robyn said to him with a southern drawl.
“Of course I do, baby,” Chris winked playfully and blew a kiss to Robyn, who in return, shook her head.
“You are a pain in my ass, Odom.” Chris made loud snorting sound at her.
“You wish I was a pain in your ass,” he laughed, which made Robyn roll her eyes and elbow him.
“Ain’t nobody really wish that Odom; yeah sure your tongue in there is one thing but anything more than that? No thanks,” she replied, making Chris freeze.
“What? No! Ew, Jesus, no! Now that’s seared in my brain- you don’t really like that do you?“
“I don’t mind a pain in my throat though…” Robyn said as some form of payback for making her watch horror movies, as she checked her nails idly.
“Oh God!” Chris groaned, “Really? No? No! Jesus Robyn, This conversation just escalated swiftly; is that even a word!” He buried his face against Robyn’s shoulder, and Robyn could feel the heat of his embarrassment and it made her happy in a way she couldn’t really explain. “We need to just shush and watch the movie,” he mumbled unhappily, head still tucked into her shoulder; she just laughed at him and patted him on the head.
“Oh, just press play, you loser,” Robyn shoved him and Chris pouted but pressed play none-the-less. The opening started to play and Robyn was already feeling nervous. Who the fu*k used wrist binds to get a child into its high-chair anyway? It was creepy already.
“Oh my God.” Chris snorted next to her before they both went back to watching the film, which Robyn had begun thinking wasn’t that bad because they were 10:18 minutes in and all that had happened was one of the girls had fallen into a pile of dead deer and gotten blood up her arms (which, Robyn had complained, was gone about two seconds later and she didn’t even wash her hands. “Where’s the continuity, Chris?!”).
Robyn, in all fairness, was doing pretty well up until Creepy wax man snipped at Wade’s ankle and even then she only jumped. And squealed a bit, making Chris snort, but she hadn’t grabbed on to Chris yet, so that, at least, went in her favor. She gagged a little when the girl, that wasn’t Paris Hilton, got her lips glued together and ended up burying her face into one of Chris’s pillows, unable to watch her pulling them apart and when creepy mechanic guy snipped the tip of the girls finger off, she flinched and ended up grabbing on to Chris’s arm – eyes fixated on the screen looking more than horrified – to feel safe.
It happened a few more times, Robyn grabbing Chris, but Robyn thought she’d be able to make it through without hiding her face in his shoulder. But then it showed Wade as a wax doll and his eyes moving which made Robyn ill and claustrophobic, and this was followed by the other guy attempting to peel the wax off his face. That was it. Robyn couldn’t do it anymore and she buried her face between Chris’s neck and right shoulder and grabbed onto his left shoulder. Hidden away from what was happening on the screen, her breathing became a bit uneven, maybe because of the movie, maybe it was Chris’ scent; with anyone else, she would’ve been a bit embarrassed, but not with him.
Chris put his arm around Robyn in an attempt to pull her up. He looked down at her with concern written across his face. “Hey Robz,” he whispered, sitting up straighter, trying to get Robyn to look at him but she stayed firmly where she was, “are you okay?” He felt Robyn shake her head and he felt her shaky, shuddery breaths against his neck. “Do you want me to turn it off?” Robyn shook her head again.
“No, we’ve started it now…” Robyn mumbled into his skin. Chris nodded, still a bit worried.

“Okay… Well just tell me if you do…” Chris told her as he took his arm off Robyn and laid it across the back of his seat, not wanting to dislodge Robyn from where she was.
It only got worse from there, it seemed that every time Robyn hazarded a looked toward the screen something particularly gruesome was going down and she’d pull herself closer and closer to Chris, to the point where she was practically sitting in his lap, with her leg curled around one of Chris’s and one hand digging into his waist. Chris was just rubbing her sides soothingly. If Robyn bothered to think about it; it was pretty cool how comfortable they were with each other. Almost like…best friends. Robyn thought she might have been safe to look at the screen when she heard Chris chuckle, but when she did, she was faced with dead Paris Hilton with a pole sticking out of her. She gagged as she buried her face as close as possible to Chris and mumbled “what the fu*k is wrong with you?” at him, to which Chris just laughed and patted her waist.
She stayed in that position, head planted between Chris’s neck and shoulder with one hand clutching at his waist and one hand playing with the label on Chris’s discarded shirt, to calm herself down. Chris hadn’t known Robyn disliked horror movies so much, he knew she had a thing about blood, but he didn’t know it was this bad.
Chris nudged Robyn toward the end of the movie, when the police were poking around the melted wax house, telling her it was okay to look now. Robyn lifted her head and peeked at the screen, heaving a sigh of relief. Chris looked down at her, all wide-eyed and looking a tiny, tiny bit guilty. It was only then Robyn realized how close they were. Chris wouldn’t even have to move and inch press his lips against Robyn’s, not even an inch…
And Robyn didn’t know why she did it. It was really just a heat of the moment kinda thing, Robyn had gotten caught up in the way Chris was looking at her, half mocking, half concerned, all melting chocolate eyes and half smirking. Caught up in the way Chris was still rubbing Robyn’s side softly. Caught up with the thought that if she moved her leg slightly, it’d be brushing up against Chris’s co*k… Robyn just surged forward, managing to bump her nose against Chris’s, but still pressing their lips together, softly, briefly. It was over almost as soon as it started, Robyn realizing what she’d done almost straight away.
