It didn’t take long for Elite Boutique to rise up in the ranks of children’s clothing, especially with the quality of their products and the ease of using their online store. Every person that visited their website could also read the story of how the South Atlanta Elite Boutique store came to be.
It featured the Huffington Post article, the first of many to follow, and showed pictures of Candace and Faydra and both of the women with Calvin and the Queens Media team. There were pictures of the groups hanging out and enjoying a beer, and pictures of them doing community service or special sales that benefited a cause around the city.
Both Calvin and Faydra’s dreams had become a reality. And just like their work, so different but able to come together for an amazing outcome—that’s how Faydra saw both her and Calvin. They were from two different worlds and had very different pasts, but the differences were what brought them together. They were forced to learn about each other and adjust their own wants and needs for the other person.

In addition, and most importantly, they had to learn to live in the present. They had to forget about the painful relationships in their past, and instead use what they had learned to make better decisions with each other. But they also had to remain in the present as much as they could. While they planned for the future, they tried to remember the now. The two constantly fought stares and judgment about being together, and only when they were able to ignore it could they truly enjoy themselves.
When asked about it, Calvin would respond the same way every time while holding onto Faydra’s hand and kissing her cheek.
“Our hopes and desires for our businesses—the passion we have to unite people and provide a service unmatched by anyone else—well, we live that every day by being together. We are very different people who have taken two very different journeys, but that’s what brings us together. We serve each other daily, as selflessly as we can and we support each other. And that shouldn’t be interesting at all, that should be the way every relationship is, regardless of class or color.”
Every time he gave his answer Faydra would gaze at him, still in awe of their relationship and what the two had built together, and what they would continue to build in the future.
