While they had been talking business Betsy had been messaging Bryan, seemed like his flight had come in hours ahead and he needed someone to pick him up at the airport. Harvey cracked jokes that made them both laugh uncontrollably. Had guests from nearby table raising their eyebrows at them, which they ignored. Trish could tell that Harvey took his profession seriously, his cracking jokes was a way of not taking a problem too seriously, which made for an easier way of coming up with a solution. What made him so successful in his career was that he thrived on challenges. He had a presence that instantly made you feel at ease, you wanted to please him and take the best pictures possible. Trish was similar to him in personality and work ethics. Harvey was impressed that she had so much composure, when dealing with someone of his stature. Her not being intimidated by him, made her more captivating in his eyes.

“Guys sorry to interrupt but I’m gonna have to leave to pick up Bryan at the airport, will you guys be ok without me? They both turn to look at Betsy at the same time.

“Sure run along I think we can manage somehow.” Said Trish.

“I love you guys, Harvey take Trish home for me please.” She hugged them both before leaving.

“Not a problem drive safely please.” Replied Harvey. While Betsy made a hasty exit out the restaurant.

Trish felt nervous now that the buffer Betsy had provided was gone and she was left all alone with Harvey. She fidgeted with the menu then developed a sudden craving for Shrimp Fettuccini in Alfredo sauce. It was perfect that they happen to be in an Italian restaurant, the ambiance of the place was ideally suited to romance for at every other table sat a couple. This wasn’t a restaurant that you could eat by yourself without feeling awkward.

“Sorry how rude of me, we’ve been talking so much I forgot this was a restaurant, you must be hungry.”

“Yeah, I haven’t had anything since lunch, been between wardrobe and makeup all day.”

He signaled to a waiter, “What will you be having?”

“Shrimp Fettuccini in Alfredo sauce please.” He ordered two serving of the like with a bottle of chardonnay. The food came and they ate in companionable silence.

“Do you need a refill Trish?” he pointed to her empty glass. She nodded and he started pouring. Oh My Goodness, Trish felt so pressured, she couldn’t afford to wuss out at a time when she needed to make a great impression on such an important client.

“Sorry that I haven’t been much for conversation.”

“Don’t be intimidated, I can see that you have a lot on your mind.” Faint strains of a violin accompanied his words. It seemed to rise and fall with crescendo in the background. The sweet sounds made the atmosphere almost romantic. Both were appreciative of the good food, music and company which made them feel calm and mellow. The earlier stress of the day no longer as important as it had seemed, since it was now forgotten. The wine was strong and potent, the taste lingered on his tongue, just the way Harvey liked it. It was satisfying to be in the company of a woman who wasn’t blabbering about the latest gossip or mundane topics only women would find interesting.

So refreshing that he could hear himself think. It didn’t hurt that his companion was extremely beautiful and turned heads no matter where she went. Even now men across the room sent her appreciative glances to which she seemed oblivious. He glowered at them in return, his cave man instincts kicked in and he felt over protective of his latest charge. He tried to maintain his composure so that she would not feel that any displeasure on his part, was a reflection of anything she did. He wanted her to relax around him. Once the stuffed feeling of having partaken in good wine and food had worn off, he paid the bill and called it a night, after she stifled yet another yawn.

Even though she had answered his questions intelligently on various topics on the drive to her house. He could detect the sleepiness that she attempted to hide. It felt as if magic was in the air, an undeniable attraction pulling them towards each other like an invisible magnet. He could tell she was responsive and didn’t want the night to end. When she inclined her head towards him, he wondered if she wanted him to kiss her. He didn’t though, just politely exchanged goodbyes after he escorted her to the front door. Betsy would have been proud he was the perfect chaperon much to his regret. He envisioned that moment when he kissed her and they would eventually, it was only a matter of time. He didn’t want any fog of alcohol clouding her mind. Once he had seen the key turn and heard that all the latches had been bolted, only then did he return to his car to drive home.
