Harvey gaped at her in disbelief, for once at a loss for words, it took some minutes for him to recover.

“You’re pregnant? All this time I thought you were bulimic. Who the hell is Chris?”

Feeling overwhelmed she broke down and confessed everything to Harvey. Told him about her relationship with Chris with details which led up to her current pregnancy. Harvey didn’t even flinch, his face was unreadable as he listened to Trish bare her soul.

“Look Harvey, I understand that I haven’t been feeling or acting at 100% but I promise you that I will continue to do my best despite the circumstances and you won’t regret choosing me as the face of your summer fashion line. Promise me that you won’t tell Miranda Chase about my pregnancy.”

“Trish calm down, that can’t be good for the baby, don’t worry your secret is safe with me.”

“Betsy wanted me to abort it, do you think I should?”

“I support you whether you decide to keep it or not but I would prefer that you do, to me children are precious gifts that shouldn’t be wasted or ill-treated. No matter your decision, you’re welcome to work jobs for me as well as Livingston Cosmetics during and after your pregnancy.”

Trish was convinced that Harvey was going to tell her boss Miranda at the agency, and get Trish fired but he made no move to pick up the phone and call Miranda Chase. What he did next astounded her, he drew her close to him and embraced her in a hug. She felt safe, warm and comforted. He wiped the tears she hadn’t felt on her face away with his handkerchief, which he normally kept in his shirt pocket, she didn’t even realize she had started crying.

“I realize that the summer season will be soon over but I have a maternity line coming out in the fall and you’re welcome to be my main model for that as well.” Trish looked up at him in awe, she finally accepted that he wasn’t going to squeal to Miranda about her.

“Harvey you have my gratitude. how can I ever repay you?”

“You can start by going out with me to a social later, it’s a black tie event so be ready at eight.” Trish didn’t know what to say. She leaned over to seal their bargain with a kiss. Harvey had continually been killing her with kindness. She felt like she had died and gone to heaven, adrift on cloud 9. Never had she stopped to ponder the ramifications of being seen out in public with one of the country’s most eligible, richest and reclusive bachelor.

“Girl, why is your room such a mess?” It was almost 7pm and she still couldn’t find anything half way decent to wear out later, buying something new wasn’t an option.

“Harvey invited me to attend that high society function with him later and I have no clue what to wear.” Trish picked up yet another inferior dress and tossed it unto the growing pile.

“Hmm…. Maybe I can offer some assistance.” Betsy went to her own room and dug deep into her stuffed closet, the sounds of things moving could be heard while Trish waited patiently on the edge of her bed.

“Yep, here it is one of Indira’s earlier pieces she made for me when she was just starting out, I never wore it because I wasn’t feeling the shade or the exposure but it would look perfect on you.” She removed the clear covering that preserved the dress. It was a red totally sheer sheath dress that would hug her slight frame. When she stood still it would give the illusion that everywhere was covered but the moment she moved the slit on her left side would showcase her long toned legs. The back of the dress had a deep plunge that would show a huge expanse of flesh. The front was covered in comparison. It had a halter attached to a built in bra that would give her bre*sts that extra lift to make everything look on point. What was Indira thinking when she made this dress for Betsy? That she would bring out her wild side maybe, everyone knows how conservative her sweet and simplistic friend could be.

“Wow, it fits perfectly, thanks so much Betsy, I’m gonna rock Harvey’s world in this dress later.” She walked over to Betsy and give her an enthusiastic bear hug, so relieved to no longer have to frantically worry about what she was going to wear to that red carpet event.

It calmed her nerves to know that Betsy and Bryan would also be there. She would have that anchor in a sea of unfamiliar faces, and company to chat with should Harvey go off and leave her alone. She was looking forward to having a wonderful time with Harvey.

While she did her makeup, Betsy was asked to take several pictures from every inconceivable angle. Her makeup would have to hold up under the heat and strain of the flashing bright lights of the various hi tech cameras. She didn’t want to be an embarrassment to Harvey in any shape or form so everything had to be just right.

Harvey had an emergency at work, so he would have to leave from there and get ready at his house and go straight to the function. She would get a ride with Betsy and Bryan who were also on the guest list. It worked out just perfectly for her because she knew if Harvey saw her in this dress they would probably end up not leaving the house. She felt like a goddess in that dress, it skimmed all her curves and hugged her body to perfection. She couldn’t stop looking at her reflection in the mirror, she felt like a princess. She paired it with silver chandelier earrings, a silver studded choker and a diamond encrusted six inch spike heels.

Harvey was a tall man, so even with the heels on her head would still come up to his chin. Harvey was bald headed, tall and muscular, she could imagine him in a black tuxedo looking debonair and charming. He was the type to have a white neat handkerchief planted firmly in his breast pocket for any damsel in distress.

As the time drew near, she began to fidget and get nervous, to take her mind off things she helped her friend Betsy get ready by combing her hair. She piled her long hair into a simple bun that showcased her friends swan like neck. She loved Betsy’s dress it was a Japanese kimono style dress, hence the chopsticks that poked out of her friend’s bun. Her friend was always artsy and stylish.
