Jazmyn turned with a smile and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Don’t stress your poor head, Peepaw. I promise to be very careful as always and I would be with Isaac so what’s the worst that can happen?”

“That is exactly enough to worry about,” he replied, shooting Isaac an evil look. “You both should do well to remember we have an important gig to play on Sunday, so get yourselves in one piece back here tomorrow evening.

Jazmyn couldn’t help laughing as he kissed her forehead before leaving the room with his beer bottle swinging loosely by his side. She’d always envisioned a cowboy hat and boots would suit his decisive swagger perfectly and complete the wild, west look he had going with his shaggy blond cut and burly body.

Except Jean-Pierre preferred to dress like either a tech wizard or a Wall Street broker depending on the mood he woke up with. She loved him deeply and was grateful for the way he treated her like the sister that he’d never had.

As the emotional moment swept through her rapidly and finally receded to a corner in her heart, Jazmyn turned to Isaac with an enthusiastic smile. “So, tell me all about the bungee party and when do we leave tomorrow?”

“Jaz, you look like a child who just got handed candy,” Isaac said, laughing.

“This is literally candy. I have bungee jumping way lower on my bucket list and was going to try it right after I’d gone zip lining. I can almost envision how great this is going to be.”

“Well, I’m glad I have to go with you now, rather than my date,” Isaac confessed, fetching the last beer from the pack. “It wouldn’t have been half as interesting as it’s going to turn out now. Here you go.”

“Thanks.” Jazmyn took the beer from him and took a drink, savoring the slightly spicy brew as her thoughts raced excitedly.

She had initially planned to have a relaxing weekend with Bishop and perhaps pick up one of the abandoned projects she was always too busy to complete, like the cashmere sweater she’d been knitting for three months now.

She had even thought about trying her hand at new cooking recipes or writing a song for the new EP they were all still deliberating about.

As much as she’d love to do all that, it couldn’t be compared to jumping from a considerable height and feeling her body suspended and dangling mid-air. She didn’t think there was literally anything compared to that, except perhaps skydiving which she’d tried multiple times now.

This was one thing about taking adventurous activities like this. There was always something better, something far more thrilling and exciting, and for years now, she’d been on the constant search for the ultimate thrill.

Perhaps after bungee jumping tomorrow, she’d make comparisons between it and skydiving on her lifestyle blog, Adventures with Jaz. There were only two ways it could go; amazing and thrilling to the point that she became hooked to it, or plain unstimulating and boring that it’d be just one of the things to cross out of the bucket list.

Time would tell.
