A cabin made from logs of oak, the wood’s natural beauty radiating a welcome for Zack and Jazmyn. It was a hundred- and sixty-seven-feet square cabin, split into two rooms – a living room and a bedroom. The living room was lit up by happiness, the glow of which was visible miles away.

Inside the cabin was cozy, a fireplace radiating the warmth of appreciation. On one wall was a shelf with a collection of books, each volume in the collection representing a stage of life – birth, childhood, etc. On another wall, arts from notable artists were hung up and each one with its own representation.

There were two sets of the collection, each book with some pages filled and others waiting to be filled. In the middle of the bedroom lay a bed covered in the softest cotton sheets made by Hermes and covers inviting them to come and lie down. Inside the rooms was a continuation of the arts that were hung up in the living room.

As Jazmyn stepped foot into the log cabin, she felt peace, calmness. She had never seen a place so quiet and at the same time still a little wild. She stood there as she took a moment to appreciate the good structure of the cabin.

“Wow, I did not see this one coming,” she commented, as she dropped her bag on the floor.

A few days after they arrived, Jazmyn, coming back from the forests where she went tree watching, opened the door and was met by utter surprise, and her reaction could say it all.

She could see a trail of petals laid down and spelling out “Will you marry me?”

Zack came out of the bedroom, followed by Mr. Bennett, Brianna and her fiancé, Ryan, Jean-Pierre, Isaac, also Madeleine with Justin, all of them wearing a white shirt, and the words ‘Will you marry me’ was inscribed on them. Zack knelt down on one knee and said –

“I can’t imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to, I know you are the only one I want to share the rest of my life with, and all I need is you. When I look into your eyes, I can see a reflection of the two of us and the life I hope we’ll share and I know for sure that my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it. Jazmyn Tucker, Will you marry me?”

“Yes,” Jazmyn replied in a high-pitched voice, feeling very joyous and emotional. Zack slid the twenty- four karat diamond ring onto her finger, and he stood up to hug her. Everyone took turns in telling Jazmyn congratulations. They had a little party before they all went their separate way leaving Zack and Jazmyn inside the log cabin.

Jazmyn started to think about her entire life, even though she had always been aiming high, she never thought the day would actually come to reality. She felt delighted that though she had been through a lot, being with Zack, could make her heal past all those scars and move on to enjoy the greatness left for her to enjoy in her career.

She knew Zack was her soulmate, and nothing could change that now. She was a survivor, looking back at all the challenges she had faced, she knew the road wasn’t smooth nor fair to her, but kind of assumed that Zack was her reward here on earth for all the struggles she’s been through.

Zack had never felt lucky in his whole life, Jazmyn was the partner he needed, even though they had different tastes and they weren’t that compatible, life still found a way of making them perfect for each other. They were ready to sacrifice anything to make their relationship strong. They both knew they were right for each other.

The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. Sitting outside to enjoy the sound of the chirping crickets, they both looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity. Jazmyn held unto his arm.

“I love you sweetheart,” Zack said.

“I love you more, baby,” Jazmyn replied, as they kissed passionately, with the image of a bright future ahead of them.

 The end.
