Chapter 10
Jazmyn
The past two months dating Zack had been pure bliss. Jazmyn had never felt this much happiness in her entire relationship life. Zack had to be the most patient and loving, caring man she had ever dated.
He was always attentive and knew how to calm her down when she was upset or how to cheer her up when she was down. Zack, in some ways, played Brianna’s role in her life by slowing her down anytime she felt extreme or wanted to try something dangerous.
The dappled sun shone through the trees creating mysterious shadows on the street; the blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze. Tiny specks of dust seemed to dance in the shaft of afternoon sunlight that slanted through the window.
Zack invited Jazmyn to his house, so they could have time to talk and make plans for their future. Feeling nervous, she turned to Bishop for comfort because she was feeling pretty nervous.
Pacing in her living room back and forth, she was getting a little edgy while waiting for Zack to come to pick her up with the ever-loyal Bishop trailing after her.
Feeling a little bit tensed up, she faced her dog, “Should I be antsy? I don’t know what to expect; I know he’s rich. However, even with that, I’m still a little bit clueless on how the house will look like.”
The dog gaze was fixed on Jazmyn as she poured her worries onto her fluffy fawn-colored pet, if animals could talk, it would probably advise her, considering the way the dog paid attention to everything Jazmyn said.
This little guy has been Jazmyn’s companion in quiet times and moments, those blossoming of hilarity dogs bring. He had those looks that could be compared to human expression.
“What if I’m too dressed, huh?” Bishop strode to where she stood and rubbed her leg with his head. She bent down to pat behind its ear. You are right, pal. I…. I don’t have to be so anxious about going over to his house, I mean…”
The sound of the bell interrupted her before she could finish her statement. She made her way through to the door.
“Hey sweetie, Zack greeted her with a peck on her lips before moving inside to pat Bishop on his back. “What’s up, big fella,” the dog watched him, ears up, head slightly cocked, wagging its tail.
She picked her clutch from the coffee table, locked her door and dropped Bishop off at Mr. Bennett’s and proceeded towards Zack’s car.
Halfway through the drive, Zack glanced at Jazmyn, “hey, you have been unusually quiet, is everything alright?” He asked.
“Oh, umm, I’m good, just a little bit agitated you know, looking forward to seeing your house for the first time.”
What if it’s out of my comfort zone? You felt really restful at my apartment, but what if I don’t fit in well in yours. These were her thoughts when Zack cut in,
“Relax and take a deep breath Jaz. You have nothing to worry about, okay? I’m really okay with you being in my house. Just don’t worry about a thing okay. I promise you; I’ll try my very best to make you comfortable, make sure you feel at home,” he said, reassuring Jazmyn.
“You say that with so much confidence, you must be really sure of yourself,” she said goofily.
“It’s no problem really, trust me,” Zack said, chuckling.
There was endless chatter the whole way to Zack’s house. As Zack arrived by the driveway to his building, settled in the woodland, as plebeian as any rock face in these parts, was a mansion.
Its windows were like shy eyes, large and open to welcome any ray of sun. The glass wall couldn’t have been anywhere better than where it was placed, as if by any chance it had grown up right from that hallowed ground.
It seemed as if it was called into the establishment to protect those who came in to find shelter and dwell within, to quell the elements and allow a hearing to build from hearts into the inhaled woodland air.
The tall glass walls gave a view of the mountains with a door that could accommodate a family of giraffes, a chance to relax and take in the changing of the seasons from the comfort of an easy chair. The mansion stood there as if the surrounding nature had embraced it so that the vegetation flowed within it as much as around it.
Jazmyn expected nothing less from a man who was on the Forbes list, but still, her state of mind was wowed. She was trying to hide her emotions, she forgot she was an open book.
Zack noticed her facial expression, “c’mon it’s no big deal, come on in, make yourself comfortable”
“Holy crap, you call this a house Zack, your house?”
“Umm yeah it’s my house, I hope because I’ve been living there for quite a while now”. He jested.
“This is not the time for your sense of humor, Zack”
“Ouch I’m wounded”
“This is a fu*king palace. You are way too humble. If I lived in a house like this, I would probably be flaunting it on Instagram every damn day. But no worries I’m here now to do that for you.”
“Wow!” She whispered as she spotted a Hermes three-seater couch to sit on. I hope there is a map you plan on giving me so I don’t get lost, she continued.”
“Plus, also, I think I’ll be needing a tour,” she added, laughing out loud.
“Well, don’t get too excited” Zack teased
“Oh, shut it,” Jazmyn replied.

Entering the living room, Zack’s house was like a kaleidoscope of memories; she was amazed by all the intricate designs of the walls, embellished photographs and the ancient objects adorning them, each of them conjuring the emotions of those sweet eternal moments.
The glass walls gave a great view of the lake at the back of the house surrounded by different types of delicate flowers. The floor was a modern parquet with a blend of dark brown, the banister was a twirl of a branch, its grain flowing as water might, in waves of comforting woodland tones.
“You like what you see?” Jazmyn heard Zack ask behind her.
“Yes, it’s wonderful and I love it, wow this is just so beautiful, why didn’t you bring me here earlier?” She pouted at him.
“Sorry”, grinned Zack, “but it was worth the wait, right?” He added. Jazmyn nodded in agreement.
