Chapter 9

Jazmyn

Jazmyn got up from her bed feeling a little bit flushed than she usually was after waking up. She headed towards the bathroom.

While inside the shower, feeling its water-hug, warm and cozy feeling of the water, the thought crossed her mind again for the second time since they had that phone call that she fell asleep while on a call with Zack, and she was feeling a little bit gutless about the situation.

She got out of the shower and started to choose an outfit. She had a rehearsal with the band this morning.

Rehearsal this time was much more exciting and pumped than the last they met. During that time, Jazmyn was caught up with the events that had happened between Zack and her, but now she was pumped about their next date.

The band obviously could tell that she was in a good mood today, compared to the last time.

“What’s up today?” She said as she picked up her guitar to start strumming

“Nothing much,” Isaac replied, “you’re feeling really hyped up this morning.”

“Did you get laid last night?” Jean-Pierre asked, not now minding what her reaction would be like.

“Get laid? No, why would you even say that anyways let’s get to practicing our new song.”

“What are you doing after rehearsal? Do you know that the Revivalists are coming to New Orleans today?” Jean-Pierre asked. Isaac looked at Jean-Pierre. He thought he was about to reveal Zack’s secret, which he made them promise not to tell Jazmyn.

“Yeah, but, unfortunately I have plans for today, I don’t think I’ll have a chance to go see them,” she said, looking dispiriting. But then she thought in her mind.

It was worth it; she liked Zack and would love to go out on a date with him again, even if it falls on the same night as when her favorite musical band is coming to town.

“Will you guys be there?” Jazmyn asked as she returned her guitar to its case and prepared to go home.

“I don’t know for sure,” Isaac replied

“Probably,” Jean-Pierre replied, also preparing to leave.

They left the hall together, discussing and giggling.

3:45 PM

Feeling refreshed and anticipating what Zack had planned, she started getting ready for her second date with Zack.

She sat down in front of her mirror with a set of dazzling, halo-white teeth as she applied a nude color of lipstick to her saccharine sweet lips. It was appealing to see her with short twisted red locks.

She stood in front of her wardrobe, thinking what type of clothing she would wear. She had no clue the kind of date Zack had planned, so she had no idea what kind of outfit to wear. She didn’t want to wear something too casual, or naff, or gothic.

She had a hard time picking out an outfit, and she decided to go with a more voguish outfit, a Dolce and Gabbana Blue Gown, with black heels. It seemed like she was going all out for this date.

She had high hopes about this date. Just as she applies the final touch of her perfume on the cloth, she heard a knock on her door. She rushed to the door to open it.

As she opened the door, Zack, dressed in a black Ralph Lauren Suit, a nice haircut, was at the hold holding pair of pink roses in his hands,

“You look pretty, it makes my heart smile, these are for you,” he said as he handed over the roses to Jazmyn.

Beaming, Jazmyn told Zack, “Thank you,” inspecting Zack from his shoes to his hair; she said, “You are looking dapper today and your hair looks great.”

“I appreciate that,” Zack replied as he tried to open the door of his Porsche for her.

She sat down quietly in the car, thinking maybe she should ask about what Zack had planned, and at the same time, she was thinking, well, it won’t harm to be patient and see where this goes. But she trusted Zack to have something special for her.

“I’m sure you are going to like where we are going.”

“Where?” She asked without hesitation

“I would tell you, but then that wouldn’t be any fun, also I want you to see for yourself,” Zack replied, making a sly face.

After driving for some minutes, they finally arrived at a big theatre hall with the ability to take up to three thousand people.

“What is this place?” Jazmyn asked with anxiety on her face.

“This place is where the Revivalists will be performing tonight,” he replied, looking straight at Jazmyn face.

“Seriously?” That one was a jaw-dropper; the expression on her face made it known to Zack that it was a good surprise. He’d known it was a good idea and a perfect one for the night.

“They are like my favorite band, since I ever could remember and I’m guessing you already know that don’t you?” She added. “I see you’re not shallow like other men nowadays.”

Zack smiled but did not say anything as he held her hand and led the way as they walked into the hall. Zack really didn’t know much about these bands, but he also thought it would be great, and they would have an excellent time together.

Jazmyn could barely conceal her delight about how wonderful the night was; she could not believe that the show she had thought she was sacrificing for was actually her date with Zack. A quiet contentment spread through her heart.

Zack bought the VIP table for two tickets giving them the chance to be up real close, and they could have a perfect view of the performers. Two different bands performed that night before the Revivalists came up to the stage; everyone was on top of their voices, including Jazmyn.

She was buzzing with joy, knowing every song they had performed that night. Jazmyn felt like she was on the stage with them and would have put on more comfortable clothes if she knew this was where she would end up that night.

Though her clothes weren’t that free, she didn’t let that hinder her from jumping and getting vibes from the performing artists. She was grateful in her heart to Zack; how thoughtful she would say from time to time in her mind.

From time to time, she looked at Zack’s face to see if his mind was present. Although he wasn’t the type you see at concerts or musical performances, Zack was totally into this one, given that he wanted to make the night great for both of them and also a memorable one.

Jazmyn had no idea if her friends later showed up that night because she was in front; she wasn’t thinking about them. All that mattered at that moment was that she was going to see her favorite band.

Everybody in the hall clapping was at the top of their voice when the Revivalists finished their performance.

“I would be so happy if I could get an autograph,” Jazmyn mumbled. That was what she wanted, but she couldn’t tell Zack because she thought he had done enough already for the night.

She didn’t say it out loud, but still, Zack was able to hear and follow her mouth the way she spoke.

“I’ll see what I can do, just give me a sec,” Zack said, marching towards the back of the stage. Jazmyn was not able to catch the words that Zack had just said.

Zack was back straight away, with a big grin on his face, “let’s go,” he said, stretching out his hand towards Jazmyn.
