Zack

Zack pushed the phone closely against his ear, savoring the feeling of hearing Jazmyn’s voice again. An undeniable peace and calm settled over him as he leaned into the backrest of his office chair, wondering why it had taken so long, so many internal monologues and debates to reach out to her.

It had been one full week since he’d taken her to dinner, held her in his arms and shared a kiss that had rocked the basis of his entire foundation. One week of being haunted by thoughts of her every second that passed, till she was practically prowling the walkways of his mind.

She was everywhere. Hanging around at every corner he turned like a damned ghost. His ebony black goddess with the fiery red twists and mischievous smile. His….

It felt right as he thought about it. Felt right even as he revisited the memories that they’d both made that night; just as he’d been doing since the moment he’d walked out of her apartment.

Trying to concentrate on work and other activities had been quite a challenge. His thoughts strayed at the slightest opportunity to her and those bewitching hazel eyes were all he saw both fully awake and in the throes of sleep.

Never been one with a penchant for dreams, he found himself dreaming almost frequently now of her. The sound of her silky, rich voice singing to him at the party, leading him on like a siren’s call and holding him captive to her will.

Every morning since that night he’d woken up with a throbbing hard-on, picturing her in his arms just like she’d been on the dancefloor. He was inexplicably drawn to her and there was no denying it anymore.

It was beyond certain hearing her voice and the effect it had on him right then. She sounded cooler now, a little terse and he was well aware why. He’d promised to call after leaving her that night but didn’t.

A pure asshole move, but one which wouldn’t have bothered him in the past, until now. Until her.

He could still picture her standing in the motif wallpapered hallway, clear as day. Braids escaping from their upswept assemble and those gorgeous full seductive lips were swollen from his kiss. But what had almost sent him scampering back to her had been those eyes.

They’d been wide and tremulous as a child’s; yet full of longing and desire as they burned into him. Dragging him back. Willing him just to stay.

He’d tried countless times after that night to pick up the phone and dial her number but found himself holding back. Analyzing and at war with his thoughts.

Jazmyn hadn’t just excited and amazed him, she’d awakened a passion that had been dormant for a while and that had scared him sh*tless. He’d needed time to process and evaluate his feelings and reactions to her, just as he did with everything else in his life.

She was so different. So vivacious and full of life, yet possessing a great deal of warmth and empathy. He’d never been with any woman as wild and eccentric before, and that had done him just fine.

He was a practical, pragmatic man.

And that’s why he didn’t want to call her back like he promised he would. Since he couldn’t get her out of his mind, he had decided to find the courage and give it a try.

With that thought in mind, “I’m sorry for not calling you as I said, it was a sh*t move on my part, how about I pick you up in the evening, and we can go out for some drinks, that way I can explain myself a little better” he said.

There was a brief silence, still trying to take it all in, but she finally gave her reply and said, “do you mean like another date?”

“Not as a date but not as friends either, I want to make it up to you.”

“Yeah, okay. I guess”

“Great! See you at 7.”
