Before Zack could find a suitable reply to her question, his phone buzzed from the cupholder. “Excuse me for a second,” he apologized, and picked it up at her carefree nod.

It was a message notification from his assistant, Maggie reminding him about a meeting with an investor he’d totally forgotten about. Which happened to be starting in less than thirty minutes from then.

He turned to Jazmyn with a distracted smile as his mind slowly seemed to switch into work mode. “I have a meeting in less than thirty minutes. I guess it was totally forgotten in the hub of the evening and this moment.”

Jazmyn smiled, her eyes seeming to penetrate deep into him and straight to his thoughts.

“It’s perfectly fine. At least you had an amazing birthday celebration out of it. That should keep your mood uplifted for the rest of the evening, methinks.”

Zack grinned, totally taken with the way she used words. She could pass easily as a history or English teacher and that would also be perfect as well.

“This was an enjoyable ride and it feels entirely wonderful getting to know you better, Jazmyn.”

The blush returned to her expression. This time she did a better job of masking it as she met his gaze.

“As well as I, Zack. You are an enigma quite alright. Exactly as I’ve thought since the first day we met at the park,” she added with a little saucy wink.

Enigma?

Zack had been called many things before but certainly not that. He didn’t think of himself as one either, but rather someone driven by ambition and a strong need to be extremely successful to the point of fulfillment. He’d always been averse to extolment and praises of any kind, preferring to work in the background, if possible, to make things happen.

He hadn’t understood what Jazmyn had meant by calling him an enigma nor could he stop pondering about it even after dropping her off at her two-story apartment building and heading straight for the office minutes later.

Although he was somewhat confused about that part, one thing he’d been most certainly sure of was the last bit of her statement.

She’d also been thinking about him quite a lot since their first meeting, in the exact same way he’d been tortured by her captivating thoughts.

Zack didn’t know why, but the newfound knowledge left him with a pleasant feeling spreading across his chest and a grin teasing his lips apart.

For the first time in a while, he wasn’t only thinking about work or the impending meeting with the propensity to go sideways in the next couple of minutes. His head was full to bursting with thoughts of Jazmyn Tucker.

He couldn’t help fantasizing about how it would feel to have those soft, plump lips trapped between his, and that gorgeously hot body safely tucked in his arms.

This was totally out of character and wouldn’t do at all in the long run. He didn’t have time for all of that and he needed to find a way to get himself under control as fast as possible.
