Chapter 12

“Have you found the person responsible, yet?” Ricardo glanced at Kyra as she stepped into his office. It didn’t matter that he was on the phone with a police officer, discussing a serious matter. His co*k still twitched in his pants at the sight of her. He stifled a groan when she bent over to search for something in the bottom drawer of his desk. What he would give to be at home, buried inside of her, instead of working. He was insatiable when it came to her.

She gave him a small smile when she stood up, holding a file. He smiled back.

“No, Mr. Bianchi but we’re still working on finding the culprit. I think you should be cautious, hire more security for the sight, your office as well as for yourself. We don’t know what this person is capable of. They seem angry.”

“Thank you, officer.”

He hung up the phone with clenched jaws. There might be a threat to his and Kyra’s operation, a threat to them. He wasn’t concerned about himself, but for her. She was the one on the road interacting with families, speaking for him.

“Anything?” She asked.

He wiped a hand over his face. “No one has been arrested yet. He perched on his desk, pulling her between his legs.  “From now on when you need to go out, let Anthony drive you. If you don’t need to go out, don’t.”

She nodded. “Okay.” Her brows puckered. “Are things really that bad?”

He shrugged. A week ago, an area of the building they were working on was vandalized, along with heavy construction equipment. There were threats written all over the walls, telling them to get out of the neighborhood. The police figured it was just idling teenagers. “Probably not but I’m not taking any risks where you’re concerned.”

Her shoulders drooped. “I don’t understand. Why would someone do something like that? We’re trying to help.”

He planted a quick kiss on her lips. “Don’t worry about it. Things are still in progress and we’ll have the building’s grand opening in two week.”

That brought a smile to her face and it was like the sun had risen again that day. He studied her closely as she chatted excitedly about her plans for the opening and who she had already invited. She was beautiful, good, passionate. He loved her so much he felt like his heart would explode sometimes. Before meeting her, he’d been a shell and she brought him back to life. He wanted to start a life and a family with her. They’ve been going strong for six months now but he had known that he wanted all those things with her from earlier on.

He was supposed to ask her to move in with him again, but he decided that he wanted to take things further. He would surprise her when they celebrated the completion of their first project together.

She rested her palms on his shoulders. “I already invited Steve. You know he’s been asking when I’m going back to work. I took a longer sabbatical that I planned. I wanted to focus fully on what we were doing but now that we’re wrapping up…”

“What about the other projects that we’re going to undergo after this one? I have many more planned. There are many people to be helped.”

Her eyes widened. “I assumed you were going to hire someone. I thought you just wanted me for this first one.”

“No one can replace you, my love. The way you interact with people, the trust they have in you, it’s magic. I want you by my side.”

She smirked. “Of course, you do. With me here, you get hot office s*x along with a Communications Officer.”

His eyes darkened. “That definitely is an added bonus with having you as a partner.” Ricardo had a flash of the various ways he’d fu*ked her in the office. He wanted to bend her over his desk now. He was about to give in to the temptation when there was a knock on the door. He kissed Kyra’s forehead. “Think about what you want to do, cara. I support you regardless. Come!”

Marissa stuck her head in. “Mr. Bianchi, your one o’clock is here. The conference room is ready.”

“Thank you, Marissa.” It was amazing how much Marissa had improved. Now, he couldn’t function without her. She was now the most efficient secretary he could ever ask for.

She turned to Kyra and lit up. “Kyra! When did you get here?”

Ricardo was quickly forgotten as the two began to chat. He caught pieces of their conversation as he gathered everything he needed for his meeting. The two had become fast friends and Marissa no longer looked at him with longing. He suspected she liked and respected Kyra too much. Who wouldn’t? Kyra was a ray light.

“Have you seen the office space being set up for the Communications Officer? Please, tell me you’re staying.”

Kyra chuckled. “Did you and Ricardo plan to gang up on me today?”

“Of course, not.” Marissa sent him a wink and he smiled. They had indeed plotted to convince Kyra to stay.

“Hmmm. I’m thinking about it, Marissa. I do still love my career.”

“But you’re pretty much doing the same social work here,” Marissa stated.

Ricardo grinned as he went through the door. “Try harder Marissa. I think we’re wearing her down,” he whispered.

“You got it, sir.”

Kyra plopped down in Ricardo’s chair after Marissa went back to work. She was still conflicted about continuing working with Ricardo or going back to work for social services. “Maybe I can juggle both.” Just like Ricardo juggled his shipping business with his new property development gig, she could do the same. She rested her chin on her hand, going into deep consideration. She started when the door burst open. Was Ricardo’s meeting finished already?

It wasn’t Ricardo who walked through the door. It was his brothers. Her heart dropped. They didn’t like her much. A harried Marissa followed them. “I’m sorry, Kyra. I told them Ricardo wasn’t in here but they busted in anyway.” She sent them a withering glare.

“It’s okay, Marissa. I’ll keep them company until Ricardo returns.”

Marissa hesitated but nodded. “Okay. Call me if you need me.”

Kyra nodded, already feeling uneasy. The twins always made her uncomfortable, well one in particular. If looks could kill, she would be dead many times over. Mario wasn’t so bad, but Alfio, he gave her the most sinister stares.

“How are you, guys?”

“Fine. How are you?” Mario asked. Alfio elbowed him. “Oomph. What? The lady asked a question.

“Where’s our brother?” Alfio inquired.

“Didn’t Marissa already tell you?”

“She usually isn’t too forthcoming with information about her boss.”

Kyra sighed, standing up and walking to the window to put distance between herself and the twins. “He’s in a meeting. If you guys want to wait that’s fine. Can I get you anything?”
