Candy’s eyes grew wide.
“Really? Where to?”
Angela shrugged.
“I don’t know… I just don’t know if I should do this. I mean, I hardly know the guy and he is here jetting me around the world… why? I don’t think he is being genuine, Candy.”
“You do know that this guy is the Gianni Versace of our time, right?”
Angela looked at her and shrugged.
“What the hell are you talking about?” she asked.
“He is the guy behind The Big O,” Candy said matter of factly. “Please tell me you knew that.”
Angela shrugged again. She’d heard the rumor that the new store owner was the same guy accused of being racist, but she had never really paid much attention. Suddenly, a lot of things made sense like how Michael was able to get a private dining room in a place that had a three-month long waiting list or how he was able to get a Michelin star chef to give them a cooking class. “I think you are overthinking everything, Angie. Just let loose and have fun. There are some good men in the world and clearly, this guy is one of them,” Candy said just as Angela’s phone buzzed loudly. She reached for her purse and got her phone.
“Oh my God,” Angela muttered under her breath when she saw the text that had just come in. It was from Michael telling her that he was going to take her to Hawaii the following day. “This is insane… I already told him I have a four-year-old at home.”
“Oh please, Angie. Hawaii! How many chances do you think you will get to travel to Hawaii?” Candy asked. “Go on. I will watch Brandon. We have had a great time lately and I love spending time with the little guy.”
“I don’t know, Candy. It is not just Brandon. It is work…”

“He owns your store, Angie. He can easily get someone to fill in for you, so stop making excuses and just get packing already,” Candy said.
Angela smiled at her best friend before she replied to Michael. As far as Candy was concerned, this was exactly what she had been praying for all this time. She put her phone down and smiled.
“So, are we going to have this ridiculously expensive dessert or are we going to pack first?” she asked.
“Why don’t we just do both?” Candy said as she reached for the Tupperware on the coffee table. Angela smiled at her.
“Yes, let’s.”
