“It has long been my opinion that humans should be culled for their continuous destruction of our environment; I think eliminating most of them would be good for the ocean as a whole. You don’t have to worry though, it will take time to do that, and I wouldn’t harm you, even if I don’t agree with your decision I respect you as a fellow shark.”
Lara looked at the driver who was still sweating and continually shaking his head in disbelief.
“What’s the matter human? Why are you in so much distress?”
“This is all just too much for me, it don’t make no sense. Sharks turnin into people, how long has this even been happenin’?”
“Don’t worry about it, just do your job and drive; if you do well, I won’t eat you once I’m through with you, maybe I’ll even mate with you. Ah, that’s the hotel they’re in, turn here and park in front of that place.”
The taxi exited the highway and pulled into the hotel. As Jacob got out, Lara she looked at the driver and started to speak, but he closed his eyes and turned away.
“Don’t do it again lady, please! I won’t go nowhere, just -”
Lara’s hand shot out and gripped the man’s face, forcing him to look at her and squeezing his cheekbones. As her eyes flashed. “Stay right here and don’t move.”
The man’s eyes glazed over, he sat still as Lara, and Jacob entered the hotel lobby.
In their suite on the third floor, Alan and Shanice were both enjoying the experience of a five star hotel. Alan had become quite enamored with the Jacuzzi and Shanice was looking through the mini-bar as well as checking out the menu for room service.
“This place is nice, it’s not the same as the ocean, but it is still good.” Alan said as he relaxed.
“Once you finish your mission, we should try staying at one of these places every so often, when we want to take a break from roaming the seas.”
“I am glad you are my mate Shanice, you are different than most people.”
“What do you mean?” Shanice asked, as she grew slightly flustered.
“It’s hard to explain. You don’t care about things that are not important; you would give up so many parts of your human life to roam with me as a shark. I am glad that I met you.”

Down on the first floor in the lobby, Lara and Jacob entered and were greeted by the receptionist.
“Welcome to the Regal suites, I’m Sara, how can I make your stay enjoyable?”
“I’m looking for someone, a friend who is staying here. I know where he is so I don’t need any help.”
“Okay, would you like me to call him for you and let him know you’re coming? What room number is he in?”
“No, he knows I’m coming, don’t do any of those things or else I’ll-”
“We’ve already made plans with them Sara, forgive my friend Lara, she’s tense because we’ve been driving for a long time. We’ll just head to their room now, thanks for your help though.” Jacob interjected as he pulled Lara away from the bewildered receptionist.
“Jacob, why did you do that? I could have easily killed that female if I wanted to, I don’t need your help.”
“And I don’t need every place I go with you resulting in somebody getting killed. We are here for the young shifter; leave the innocent out of it.”
“Fine, but what did you say that I was tense for? I’m not. Have you been around the humans so long that you’ve learned to lie as well?”
“It can be useful if you use it correctly. Let’s find the shifter though; I’m curious as to how this will play out.”
Together they walked down the corridor until they came to the spot Alan’s signal was strongest at, but in front of them was only bare wall.
“They must be on the second floor, have you ever ridden in an elevator?” Jacob asked.
“Ugh, I despise those things, they’re so tortuously cramped. Let’s get it over with.”
Jacob and Lara found the elevator and went to the second floor, both negatively charging themselves so that nobody would get into the elevator car with them. They walked down the corridor and saw that the last room had a do not disturb sign on the door.
“I’m getting the signal from around here; he’s either in this room or the one on the third floor.” Lara said. Jacob knocked three times quickly and then waited, straining to feel any movement behind the door. It opened and a man came to the door, his face red and angry.

“Can you not read? I do not want to be disturbed! Who the hell are you anyway? I’m calling security if you don’t leave me alone right-”
Lara lunged forward and grabbed the man around his neck, squeezing his trachea until it was crushed. The man fell backward wheezing as he began to choke on his own blood and Lara calmly walked into the room and looked around, then looked upward and glared when she saw that both Shanice and Alan’s signals were intertwined.
“He’s up there, the third floor. Let’s hurry and interrupt him,” she said icily.
“What about this man you wounded?” Jacob asked, gesturing to the writhing man on the floor. Lara shrugged, walked over to him and stomped on his neck three times, snapping it and putting him out of his misery.
“There. Now let’s go. ”
