Chapter 13

For the next few days, Emily, Erica and Daniel were all over Athens’ hotspots taking in the sights. Erica loved the fact that her sister was having a good time, getting everything off her mind. This was actually the first time she had taken any time off that year and Erica was happy that she had made it happen.

When they got back to the hotel from the Parthenon, Daniel was just glad he was back in the suite with Erica. He thought she looked especially lovely in the white flowered halter dress she had on. Throughout the day, he had tried not to grab her and press her against a wall in one of the crevices. He wouldn’t have cared whether he would’ve had an audience as he had his way with her. He was almost happy that Emily had just two more days before she went back home. They had made a choice to just have room service rather than go down for dinner that evening. Erica thought it was partly because Emily wanted to take advantage of the hotel spa but she didn’t mind. A nice quiet evening in Daniel’s arms was all she needed.

“I feel like I have hardly got to see you this week,” he said as he looked at her when they walked into the suite.

“On the brighter side we have visited almost every single thing that we have to do out here. I guess we are good,” Erica said with a smile. “I mean, the museums, the Acropolis, Parthenon…I wouldn’t do anything differently,” she said with a smile. Daniel pushed her against the wall and looked at her.

“Really? Even if it means you and me not having some quality time?” he asked in a low voice.

She looked at him and smiled.

“I think that is definitely something to consider,” she said in a low voice.

“What do you mean something to consider? You make me feel like this is some kind of favor you are doing me,” Daniel said. She held his face in her hands and kissed him softly before she pulled back and looked into his eyes.

“You are trying to make me sad, aren’t you?” she asked, a soft look in her brown eyes. Her smile slowly faded as she looked at him. Her hands slowly dropped down to his chest and he put his hands on her waist, pulling her close to him. Some of his hair fell out of place and shielded his eyes, she always loved it when that happened. She bought a hand up and gently swept the hair from his eyes. By the way she was looking at him, he could tell that she had something in mind.

“What?” he asked as he looked at her. She bit her lower lip and shrugged. “I know there is something in that pretty little head of yours.”

“Aw, you think I’m pretty,” she said smiling. He shook his head and then took a step forward holding her close to him.

“I shouldn’t have done that,” he said with his eyes closed. The honest truth was that Erica was freaked out too but if she showed it then they would have been two freaked out people, two blind men leading each other to a ditch. She forced out a smile and pressed her lips to his forehead mostly to hide the fact that her lips were now quavering.

“We’ll be okay,” she said in a soft voice. She looked at him and suddenly adored his perfectly big eyes. “We’ll be okay,” she said again even though she was sure that was not the mindset she had. Her heart was beating hard in her chest and she was almost too sure that she was hyperventilating…
