He looked down at her, admiring her beautiful face.

Lucy rolled over and reached for Nathan, but he wasn’t there. The sun was trying to sneak past the curtains he had hung, but the beams couldn’t pierce the jet black solar panels he’d chosen. She rolled her eyes. The man was a vampire, not a werewolf, she thought. As she lay there, she listened carefully for any sound to indicate where he was: the kitchen, she surmised when she heard a cabinet close in what he probably thought was a quiet close. She smiled, threw the covers off, and padded to the kitchen naked.
She peeked in and watched him as he prepared pancakes for the two of them. Coffee was already brewing, and a stack of three pancakes waited for the rest on a plate. Nathan was nude as well, and she admired the way his ass muscles bunched as he walked from one place to the next. She whistled softly, and he turned. The smile he bestowed upon her left her breathless.
“Good morning, my love,” he murmured as he put his arms around her and kissed her forehead. “You slept well?”
“So well,” she said. He moved away from her to flip the pancake in the pan. “Smells delicious.”
“Go sit down. I’ll bring you breakfast and coffee in just a minute,” he ordered her.
“Can I help?”
“No, you cannot,” he told her and pointed toward the table. He brought her a cup of coffee, the sugar, and milk. “While I work, I can tell you about the meeting.”

“Ok. How did it go?”
“Well, we’re meeting the day after tomorrow to collect the nominations. Then a week later we’ll hold the vote for the new Head.” Nathan put the last pancake on a plate, moved one from the other plate to that one, and set the plates of pancakes on the table. He went to the cabinet for syrup and put it in the microwave for fifteen seconds to warm it. On his way to the table, he grabbed the butter.
Lucy smiled at him as he sat down. He leaned over and kissed her. She waited. He opened the butter and reached for . . . he’d forgotten utensils. She laughed as he rolled his eyes at himself and rose to get a knife for the butter and two forks.
“You knew I’d forgotten and didn’t say anything,” he said as he shook his head. “What a terrible girlfriend you are.”
“Hush your mouth. It was funny,” she admonished playfully as she watched him slather a huge slab of butter onto his pancakes. He handed her the knife and soaked his pancakes with syrup. “Do you even taste the actual pancake?”
