Amidst that wonderful mess had been of course their wedding. Henry had bought a marvelous diamante ring that had taken the rubber one’s place and had hired a wedding organizer to take care of everything. As the wedding was finally approaching, two days from now, Mira was growing more and more impatient. Not as much about the dress or the tables or the guests but about finally saying the “I do!” that would lock her and Henry’s lives together forever. There was nothing else she wanted more than that.

“Can you believe it, honey? We’ll be married in two days!” Henry went out of the bathroom, a towel around his waist. He looked very cheerful and sexy.

Mira lifted her head from the pillow to look at him. She was exhausted after spending the whole day with Nicholas in her hands. The boy had some stomach troubles and was crying all the time. But that was a sight she wouldn’t miss for anything.

“I know… Wow! Look at you, sexy daddy!” She said observing him from bottom to top. Henry was truly a gorgeous man.

“You’re not bad yourself…” He teased her coming to the bed and lying next to her. “I’m joking! You’re the one that’s gorgeous, sweetheart.” He kissed her on the lips and she kissed him back. Fiercely and passionately.

Head to head with their breaths warm on each other’s faces they trailed off in a sweet sleep. Sweet until the baby alarm on the nightstand went crazy. Their son’s crying filled the whole room and they jumped from the bed.

“Run!” Henry said and they bolted to the room next to theirs. They knew it was a bad idea to leave him alone for a while but the doctor said it was good for him to get used to being alone sometimes.

“Shhh… Nick, darling… Shhh… It passed, sweetie. Daddy and I are here now! Don’t cry please!” Mira exhaustingly spoke to him swaying him in her arms.

“Let me, dear. Let me!” Henry took Nick from her and they went out on the balcony. A fresh breeze ruffled their hairs and Mira closed her eyes in relaxation while Henry wrapped the blanket tighter around the baby. Nick was sniffling in his father’s embrace his little fingers around Henry’s thumb.

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high like a diamond in the sky…” Henry softly sang, the moon lighting the whole night and giving it a strange tone of calmness.

The words of the song seemed to lull the boy into sleep and thankfully he closed his eyes. Henry was swaying him affectionately, still whispering the words of the song.

That sight melted Mira’s heart. Standing behind them she couldn’t stop the tears from wetting her cheeks. But for the first time in her life those tears were tears of joy. Tears of thankfulness for the life she had built for herself. The bright life ahead of her that had barely just begun.

She approached Henry and rested her head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head as the song trailed their thoughts off into the night.

The end.
