Chapter 4
“Why did you come here? What made a billionaire leave his undoubtedly busy schedule, board a plane and spend some time in a rainforest?” Mira asked Henry looking him straight in the eyes. She wiped sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. It was unbelievably hot in there thanks to the small fire and the rocks surrounding them from every side.
They had been sitting like that for a while, sometimes small-talking and sometimes diving deep into the past and telling each other stuff they wanted to get off their chests.
“The reason for coming here lies in the bunch of extremely intimate stuff… But I feel like I can trust you and you seem like a person who keeps secrets.”
“Well, you better say it before we, you know…” Mira passed a finger across her neck in a gesture of dying and they both chuckled.
“You see, I was chained in a relationship for three years to a senseless bi*ch with the name of April. I’m so terribly sorry that I couldn’t find time to come here, but once we parted ways I’m glad I could leave everything and for the first time in forever embark on a holiday. But why this particular rainforest and with a private tour guide, you may ask. My father… He was a very important figure in my life. I literally owe everything to him, but sadly he passed away recently…”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Mira said lowering her stare.

“It’s okay. The wounds will always be open, but at least I’ve had plenty of time to lick them. Anyway, he always dreamed of coming here, because it meant so much to him. My grandparents had met here and they had conceived him here, so he wanted at least once to revisit all the places. He didn’t get the chance and I can’t forgive myself for that. That’s why I wanted to be the one to fulfill the dream he couldn’t. It’s a personal thing, so you’ll understand my asking for only one tour guide without a bunch of other nosy tourists.”
“That’s wonderful.” There were tears in Mira’s eyes. The story truly touched her, moved her in ways she couldn’t have predicted.
“Oh, don’t cry. It’s okay.” Henry came closer to her, trailing the tear with his thumb.
Mira could smell his powerful scent mixed with sweat, could see his worried eyes full of emotion and right there she wanted to kiss him. And she did. Her lips met his; her hands trailed to his nape and engulfed him in a powerful embrace.

They remained silent for a few moments during which Mira contemplated her actions and feelings. Did she do the right thing? Yes, before it had happened it seemed as the only obvious decision. Their lives were probably going to end there. With each passing second the probability increased and increased, reaching a sky-high level. And somehow the scenery and the fact that they were trapped together… Something led to something else and it just happened. Besides who could blame her? Henry was a drop-dead gorgeous, charming guy who showed some affection toward her and she seized the moment to have her portion of pleasure.
