He supposed that was what had made him miss her so much. Completely being cut away from all that physical contact was torture for a man in love.
The music was playing when he reached her home. It was the famous rock group that she liked so much, and he feared that she wouldn’t hear the bell ring over its loud volume. Also, the aroma that was coming from the house told him that she was cooking up a mean meal.
Willing to wait for however long it took, he started to ring the bell.
It didn’t take long at all. In two minutes, the door came open and before he could take her in, in her apron and shorts, her arms were wrapped around his neck, hugging the air out of him.
Complaints? From him? Never. As his arms found his way around her waist, he held her just as tightly.
It felt like coming home.

Zoey remained right there, in his arms. Wishing that she could hold on forever, happy to savor however little longer she could.
God! She missed this man! Terribly until her heart had begun to ache. She had been miserable these past two weeks. Working on auto-pilot. From the office to her home, then out with the girls. Everything had just been bleak. Yet, the moment she had received a text from him saying he was coming into town today, she had instantly brightened up.
It was her whole world had had its blinds turned down and that text turned them up, and she could suddenly see in multi-colors. So yes, there has been a smile on her face all day as she went grocery shopping and lingerie shopping, as she cleaned the house and did the laundry.
In fact, just before the bell sounded, she had been happily singing and dancing along in her kitchen. Gosh. Love was a beautiful thing.
Hold up…
Love?
Well, that would be something to think about later. Pulling him closer into her, she finally spoke.
“I missed you, Xen. You have no idea how much.”
“And I miss you, Qing-qang. So, I do have an idea. Perhaps I missed you even more than you missed me.”
Chuckling softly, she finally pulled away, but only far enough to kiss him.
“Your neighbors are watching,” he said against her lips, his voice laughing.
“Good. Let them watch.”
She probably should have waited until they got inside, because now, she couldn’t seem to bring herself to stop. Everything about him was so delicious. His cologne, his dark air, the way the muscles on his back ripped beneath her hands. And his lips…. oh God, his lips.
She would never get over how soft and supple and warm they were. She could kiss him all day and never get tired.
She angled her head, drawing him even closer so that she could get enough; although she feared she never would. She would always want more of Xen, always. It had driven her crazy these past few weeks, having to be contented with nothing but sweet kisses, and fiery kisses like this one. She understood he was taking it slow but really, she was so over taking it slow.
She was jumping before she knew it, and wrapping her legs all over him. Her hands framed his face, and she gave as much as she could.
Lips clashed against lips, pulled away, and came together again. Tongues met and tangled and in all of this, her body burned with fire and a sense of urgency.
“Hey! Get a room! My kids are out here!” Someone called out. It was Mrs Collins, her neighbor just two picket fences away. The kiss broke then – but only so she and Xen would laugh.
Mortified, she turned to look at Mrs Collins, her cheeks pressed against his face.
“I’m sorry, Mrs Collins!” she called back.
“Oh, sorry doesn’t do nothing. Get a room!” But Mrs Collins winked right after that.
And Xen captured her lips again, before she could respond. Another loud whistle sounded and a guy called out,
“Woo! Get it girl!”
That was their cue to disappear. Somehow – Zoey didn’t know how – they managed to make it inside her living room without bumping into anything.
They were almost pulling at each other’s clothes when she caught it – smoke.

Instantly, they were brought back to reality. She jumped off him and made a mad dash to kitchen only to find the whole place covered in smoke. Xen was right behind her and amid coughs and the excellent ventilation, they managed to get it cleared out in minutes.
That was when she saw her fries graciously burnt to black ash.
“Oh well, so much for home-made dinner.”
“I still have you,” he said, coming to wrap his arms around her from behind.
And just like that, her pout was gone, replaced by a huge smile.
