He saw the way the wind caught in her hair, the way her hands moved when she was trying to get him to understand something; it was more beautiful, and it helped him know more about this woman that was slowly but surely stealing his heart.
She was everything he had ever known she was, and more. Yet, he knew that he had only managed to scrape the interior and there was so much more to find out about this woman, if only he cared to look deeper.
He did, and he would.
About two hours later, they rolled to a stop in front of her cozy three bedroom apartment.
“This is you?” He asked as the windows came down.
She nodded, “This is me.”
“Nice house.”
She chuckled shyly. It was a sound that he had become accustomed to over the past two hours. He had decided that he loved the sound.
“Not as nice as yours.”
That made him smile. “You’d be surprised. Come, I’ll walk you.”
He nodded at Carlos in the back view mirror before getting out. She took his hand when he held her side of the door open for her, and let him lead her all the way to her door.
As they reached, for some reason, his heart started to beat wildly in his chest. He wanted Zoey. He would be a fool if he didn’t want her. He had burned for her, all night. Nevertheless, he didn’t want to rush this. He wanted to take his time, and give enough room for them to get to know each other, know what they were getting into.
Yet, he was only a man, and a part of him couldn’t but hope that she would invite him in. If she did, would he be strong enough to say no?
Pushing his raging thoughts aside, he simply lifted two fingers to her face and stroked softly. The fingers rested on her chin afterwards.
“I had a very lovely evening, Zoey.”
“So did I.”
“I’d like to do this again, and again and again, if you would let me. I know that we are both very busy people, but we could make time.”
“Yes, we could.”
Something swelled inside of him. “So, are you saying we can do this again?”
She chuckled once more. “And again, and again, and again.”
He was grinning like a fool. He knew it, but he did not care.
“I want to kiss you.”
This time, she giggled. Then, holding his gaze, she answered softly.
“You may.”
Slowly, her lifted her face and took two steps forward, so that their bodies stood so close to each other; so that only air could pass through.
Then, gently, he lowered his head, giving her time to think this through and change her mind, hoping that she wouldn’t. The atmosphere grew tense and his heart held, in anticipation.
When their lips touched, he knew that he was right about it. Zoey was the woman he wanted to try again with.
Her lips tasted of the wine they had drunk and the syrup that had been on her steak. It was delicious as those lips were soft. Very soft. Su*king them onto his, he nibbled and pulled, enjoying the way his nerves were frying from the current overload.
Softly, gently, until she parted for him, welcoming him in, completely. His hands moved to cup her face, and hers found his neck. Their lips pulled apart and came together again, clashing in sweet harmony, each time.
He felt it all over. In his head, in his heart, in his stomach, in his blood. And when they finally pulled apart after what seemed like hours, he rested his forehead against hers and said only one word.
“Perfect.”
Her giggles filled the air and reluctantly, he pulled away from her.
“You should go in now. The air is getting chilly. I don’t want you catching a cold. Goodnight, Zoey. Thank you for tonight. Sweet dreams.”
“And thank you for everything. I loved all the gifts. Very much. And dinner? It was very lovely.”

He nodded and took two steps backwards “Always.”
“Goodnight, Xen. Sweet dreams.”
He waited until he heard the locked click into place after she had closed the door behind her, before going back to the limo.
“Take me to the hotel, Carlos.”
With a tip of the hat, they were pulling out of Zoey’s driveway.
