Chapter 10
Lila headed back up to her room, her head full of the smells and emotions that she had just experienced with Kurt. They had trotted back to the hotel together, looking at the beautiful mountains. Their lovemaking had been passionate and intense and absolutely perfect. It had been everything that Lila could have wanted from something like that. She had never experienced something that had been so intense, so fiery.
She got to her room and saw that Louise was there, lazing about and watching some TV while enjoying room service. “Hey you,” said Louise. “Where did you head off to so bright and early?”
Lila lay down on her bed and sighed. She turned her head to face Louise and said, “I was out riding with Kurt. We… you know.”
“What?!” asked Louise, turning the TV off and giving Lila her full attention. “Really? How was it?’
“It was… incredible,” said Lila. “It was the best s*x I have ever had to be honest. I do not really know how we got to that point, we didn’t ride out with the intention of fu*king or anything. I think we just got swept up in the intense romanticism of the moment. It made us feel really intensely for each other, and that ended up becoming a part of the s*x that we had.”
“That sounds so fu*king hot,” said Louise. “Ugh, I wish I could have s*x like that. So… are the two of you a thing now?’
“I do not know,” said Lila. “When we were coming back we talked about everything but that. I think we avoided the subject because it would force us to face a harsh reality. It would force us to face the fact that we might not be able to be together, no matter how much we want to be together. After all, I have a life in the city and he has a life here. Neither of us can expect the other to just abandon everything that we have going for us in favor of some fantasy relationship that we feel like we could have with each other.”
“Why not though?” asked Louise. “Why can’t you abandon your life in the city? You hate it there. You hate your job, you hate the apartment we live in, you hate everything about the city. Here, you have everything that you have ever wanted. You have the open country, horses, a ranch, and you have someone that truly cares about you, someone with whom you can enjoy a great relationship. That is not the kind of thing that you stumble upon every day, you know. Most people go their entire lives without being able to find a relationship like that. They search everywhere but it just is not in their destiny.”
“Yeah,” said Lila. “I guess that you are right. I just do not want to rush into a relationship. I know that I feel really strongly about him, I know that I feel like he is the right guy for me, but at the end of the day how long have I really known him? I have known him for about two or three days now, and I am already head over heels. This is not normal. I just feel like it should give me pause because… what if this is not all that I think it is? What if I am just idealizing and romanticizing this relationship because I want to escape from the city so badly? It makes sense, you know. I hate everything about the city, you are right about that. And here I have the open country and a guy that I am attracted to. It makes sense that my mind would trick me into thinking that I… I don’t know… love him or something.”
“You need to stop second guessing yourself so much,” said Louise. “You are a smart girl. You have always been a smart girl. Maybe this is more intense than it would have been otherwise if you were in the city, but that doesn’t change the fact that you feel something truly intense for this guy. You might be able to find happiness here. Just think about it. I am not asking you to make a quick decision or anything. By all means, take all of the time that you need. But just think about it long and hard before you end up making a decision. You have four more days here after today. You can take all of the time that you need.”
“You are right,” said Lila. “I can take all of the time that I need. And I am going to. Thanks, Lu, I know that I can always count on you to give me good advice.”
“Hey don’t you worry about it,” said Louise. “Now come here and help me finish these pancakes. I went and ordered far too much. What can I say, all of this money that I now have just sitting in my bank account is begging to be spent. What am I supposed to do, just let it lie there and not spend any of it?”
Lila laughed and cuddled up next to Louise to eat the pancakes. “I am starved. Oh and you have bacon too!”
She popped a piece of bacon in her mouth. “Let’s spend the day together,” said Lila. “I have been spending so much time with Kurt that I have been ignoring you!”
“Yes,” said Louise, “I was just about to comment on the fact that true love has blinded you. I will always be your true love, Lila!”
Lila laughed and said, “That is very true. Also, I think it would do me good to stay away from Kurt for a while. It would help me to reach a more… sensible decision.”

“You are going to have to meet him this evening,” said Louise.
“Yeah,” said Lila, “but that is just because we are going to have the horse riding lessons. There are going to be a lot more people there, that will help to diffuse the s*xual tension a great deal.”
“Alright,” said Louise. “I guess that makes sense. So, what do you want to do today?”
“How about we go and enjoy that pool that we have heard so much about?” said Lila.
“Oh yes!” said Louise. “I also want to go to a party tonight. That night club that they have in the hotel, they have a party there every single night. We should go there and talk to handsome young men. You are not in a committed relationship yet, you can honestly enjoy yourself without having to feel guilty about anything.”
